Dalglish

Looked terrible in the game at Roker in 1985 when it was a tad chilly.

But superb in the rearranged fixture. One of the best performances I’ve seen against us over the years.

One of my favourites ever. In a time when folks were gettjng kicked from pillar to post he made it look easy. Him and Rush still the best pairing I’ve seen in English Football. Think Bergkamp with a bit more grit … always looked to be enjoying it as well.

Loved this from Cloughie —

“When he scored… he had a better smile than Clark Gable. Beautiful teeth, arms wide, that’s how he celebrated. He wasn’t that big but he had a huge arse. It came down below his knees, and that’s where he got his strength from.”

Brian Clough on Kenny Dalglish, 1995

More than that seems like an absolute top bloke… the work and reaction after Hillsborough was incredible for the folks impacted

Absolutely brilliant player, a joy to watch
That Liverpool team of the late 70’s / early 80’s was packed with class players.

Yes. Game was over quickly afair. Rush scored early and again in the first half.

One was a great goal. Dalgliesh got the ball on the halfway line, towards the left wing and facing his goal. Turned and curled a glorious 40 yard pass to Rush.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm world class for me is someone who’d make the Planet Earths 23 man squad in the inter-galactic cup finals for the Vulcan82 tournament, plus a few years either side which were his peak earth years imho. Two players for every position in the squads back then anarl plus a spare keeper. Providing we qualified of course.
His position would be described in 21st century parlance as a number 10. Other number 10 candidates at the time of his prime years (77-85ish) were off the top of my head Maradona, Platini and Socrates and no doubt a few others so he’d have his work cut out and it’s not as cut n dried as other some earthlings upthread have posted.
