Crowds Next Season

Agreed..a substantial number have disappeared since our Premier League days..They won't be back anytime soon...and that is no criticism of those who no longer attend, just a fact that, for the foreseeable future there will be plenty room for everyone who fancies going to the match....
I know lots who packed in season tickets when we went into div 1 but they were going to about quarter of games .

Opposite for me as I stopped in latter years of prem but got season ticket back when we dropped to Div 1. I must be nuts but I have my reasons.

Number of factors

Players we have

Looking positively, promotion, contract extensions, new signings, decent weather and good travellers should see 40k for the opening day.

Stay in L1, minimal transfer activity v Burton you're lookng 30k max.
Factor in those who just won't feel comfortable getting to the match, sitting close to people and entering/exiting the stadium.

I think proof of vaccines will be needed for entry into grounds and possibly other venues, small price to pay to get back to great match days.Cant wait really

i suspect a negative test may be of more use. It's still unclear whether the vaccine stops you catching it and potentially being asymptomatic and passing it on. It's interesting to see what music festivals are going to insist on.

If we manage to get up and are in the Championship next season, what sort of crowds do you think we’d get? Assuming there were no restrictions of course, I reckon we could attract 35 - 40k for most games, with well over 40k for some of the bigger ones. There seems a genuine buzz and positivity about us at present; I would like to think there’ll be loads who can’t wait to get back to watching live games.

Be interesting to see if the last year has put anyone off attending games in future; there are bound to be some I suppose.
Well get over 40 if the mags get relegated

Cant imagine over 40 to watch Luton, Preston, Rotherham etc

Tbf mate, I suspect those you mention above will be a very small minority and probs won’t have a big impact on our attendances.

As I posted earlier, the reason why we won’t see a big jump in the average attendance across the season is down to the fact we have a lot of fair weather fans.

Maybe you're right. There is a significant % of our crowd over a certain age who just won't go back. It's easy to underestimate this, particularly if you sit in a 'younger' area of the ground. I'm suspecting that financial issues may well be impacting a large number of people too. I can see a short term uptick in interest, but I think there needs to be some attractive season ticket offers to take advantage of this. People will soon get sick of paying 'on the gate' prices if the fare isn't too good.

I'm in my late forties, haven't been financially impacted by COVID but I'm unsure whether to go back. I've seem many new regimes, many false dawns and many letdowns. I miss non-league football more than the professional game.

Yep. Totally agree mate.

It will be interesting to see what KLD does about the Premier Concourse though. Although I don’t believe our average attendance will increase much, I wonder if he is tempted to open it up for SC sales? The middle sections would be quite popular and might tempt a few to come back?

I think it's a no-brainer if we're promoted. With it closed the capacity is restricted to 35-37k for home fans. There's probably enough pent-demand to get close to that regularly. Tougher call in League 1.

Could be both ,what we cant have is people walking around without being vaccinated.

Just watch how this becomes a racist thing. It's going to be hilarious.
Why would it ,its essential or we are locked in this nightmare for ever.No pubs,no meeting friends and family on match days.Just total torture.I dont know about anyone else but i cant go through this lot again.

Plenty wont bother as out of the habit of going
Therell be quite a few who'll have lost their jobs
A portion who still wont feel comfortable / anxious about going back
One of the scientists is suggesting masks & distancing could remain for another year or so, if they do then it'll put a few off (me being one of them)
