So your not going thenDon't need an excuse?!?! I don't seek approval from some spenk on a forum. Op will be the type to complain about cold bovril at the match whilst staying warm under his tartan blanket
I felt the same when we didn’t sell out against Everton in the FA cup quarter final and of course against Man Utd in the league cup semi final.I remember being hugely disappointed at the attendance at the Crystal Palace playoff in 2004 (just checked it was 34,536). I was shocked at the time that it wasn't sold out. It is strange that the play-off semi's don't attract the biggest crowds. Is it the same at other clubs?
Your post lost all credibility when you quoted in your own words, a ‘Watford thug’ to back up your point. Two bad results and the toys are out of the pram in a season where we’ve had the club saved , reunited with fan base and break attendance records at this level.
Fast food throw away culture from the best fans in the land ???
It’s really poor and beyond fickle .
Two good showings v Pompey and a return to Wembley will see many fickle fans back onside . Sunderland wasnt built in a day and it will never be repaired with people on strike like this .
Eddie Brimson, a Watford thug, wrote in his book something along the lines of no one comes out of the woodwork like Sunderland, but we certainly know how to quickly disappear again. Whilst he was complimenting, it also suggested how fickle we can be.
I remember thinking he was wrong and how loyal we are , but this last week is showing his perception to be reality .
As far as I remember Fan was short for Fanatic. Therefore someone who would probably be regarded as an Uber, these days, as they go to as many games as they can home and away, and buy any old shite the club will flog them. There’s a difference between ‘fans’ and ‘supporters.’ Fans are people who are defined by “liking” a club, they don’t necessarily go to games and/or pay to watch, anyway. Whereas ‘supporters’ take it further and “support” the club financially. I’m a ‘supporter,’ I have a season ticket and have had a season ticket for years. I spend money to go and watch and ‘support’ the team when they play away from home etc. And, I’ve had more than enough of ‘supporting’ this shit, for this season. I also couldn’t care less what your opinion is.
It's nowhere near 29k. More like 22k.So 29,000 including away fans in a couple of days.......Reckon it will be pushing 40k tbh.
Will be much lower that this match. If we don’t go up large chunk will drift away. Clappers don’t accept it but it will happen. It does at least give us an indication of what's going to happen crowd wise next season if we don't go up.
Also you’re a mag iircI'm choosing not to go, it's nothing to do with price, it's everything to do with not wanting to watch another dire Jack Ross team bore everyone to death. Shoot me.
Never even crossed my mind to miss Saturday's match...uploaded my season card after the Southend match.
680 mile round trip and astronomical train prices booking at short notice, but would never use distance as a reason for missing a game (travelling from within the UK, naturally), or it being on Sky TV.
I'll be there roaring myself hoarse on Saturday and then looking forward to the 2nd leg the following Thursday.
No mate...I’ll go to Wembo stillHopefully the thousands who don't bother going on Saturday and choose to stay away don't bother coming back. Would rather take 25k to Wembley than have all the moaning day trippers tagging along.
Yeah, I mean the classic example of fanaticism in common parlance would be religious fanatics - how many of those lunatics do you think actually go to church every week and/or support their religion by chipping in and sticking a few quid in the collection box for their church? Fanaticism is really just about being overly zealous about something, which you can easily do these days without ever actually leaving the house - there’s nothing to say you can’t be both a fanatic *and* a supporter, but, there’s still a distinction in terms of the actual definitions, - and anyway, once a fanatic actually spends money they become a ‘supporter’ but it’s not a given (also very bored at work). But can you be a fanatic if you never go and never make a financial commitment? Apparently a fanatic is "obsessively concerned with something". Would seem unlikely that someone could be obsessively concerned with their club but have no interest in attending or supporting it financially? Whereas it is definitely possible to be a supporter just by buying one scarf (financially giving support), but never attending. I realise this is a shit, boring argument mind, just bored at work
Read my post above. As far as I remember Fan was short for Fanatic. Therefore someone who would probably be regarded as an Uber, these days, as they go to as many games as they can home and away, and buy any old shite the club will flog them.
Supporters are those who follow a club and afford them some financial support in buying tickets or merchandise.
Those who don't go to games but follow footie on the TV only, are sad fuckers, or exiled.
Those would be my definitions, nowt like yours.
Am I fuckSo your not going then![]()
The fact is that a large % of our ST holders live away from the NE, wasn’t it once reported to be c30%, and evening games are difficult to get to. This one is particularly difficult with hotel prices through the roof due to the half marathon on SundayA huge percentage of our fans are shyte, bollocks to this best fans in the land malarkey.
Only 20,000 sold so far.. Not sure where he got the 26,000 from..So 29,000 including away fans in a couple of days.......Reckon it will be pushing 40k tbh.
Aye but watch people fork out if we get to a finalPeople have just shelled out 62 quid plus for a season ticket payment this month. Bound to have an impact.
