Crowd for sat

Tbh mate people are just disappointed that it's going to be a shit crowd for the biggest game of the season.

If you dont go I hope you watch it on TV and see a positive display that will make you want to go to Wembley again if we're lucky enough to get through.

That's very kind spirired of you, but someone else can go in my place this time if we do make it. Sick of the sight of the place now after seeing six straight defeats there.

Which will make victory all the sweeter if that were to happen there. Weve got to win sometime there man.

All factors to a greater or lesser extent for the checkatrade final and thousands of bandwagon jumpers all managed to turn up for that.

I agree. I only missed 5 games out of 46 in the league this season and the away semi final at Bristol Rovers having been down there for the league game 10 days before, one of those 5 was because I did not have enough loyalty points (Wimbledon), 3 away games that I chose not to do due to other family commitments and one home game when I was out of the country, but that's my choice. Many others don't have the freedom time wise or the cash to do that.

I reckon a lot will have one eye on the final and the likely cost of that. Its human nature and totally understandable. As long as those that do go get behind the team I am not judging anybody as we all have different circumstances. We wont get through to the final because of the size of the crowd.

People were purely bothered about watching us at Wembley and going to London for the weekend. They had next to no interest in us being checkatrade winners. As you know.

It was an under 21 team. Total embarrassment of a match and hopefully if we are successful in the play offs not to be repeated. Just emphasises the importance of the match on Saturday tbh.
I woke up without a feeling of apprehension, went to the match as I’ve not seen the lads at Wembley, near the end I’d have very happily agreed to call it a draw.
Not interested in the checkatrade in the slightest.

But I agree fans can decide if they want to go Saturday. It’s not an obligation.

In 15 of the last 20 years our average attendance was over 35K, in 12 of the last 20 years it was over 40k - you're wrong.

How many of those years was it plumped up with freebies. My general point is, if we’d had a situation where demand outstripped supply, tickets become like gold dust and people are desperate not to miss out and people will tend to pay the going rate. We’ve had supply outstripping demand for years, and cheaper than average tickets galore, yet some won’t bother.

The mags had a supply shortage for a few years under Keegan with their infamous waiting list. I had pals on it that got ST tickets eventually then were reticent to give them up even when they stopped enjoying it.

f***ing ridiculous.
We've had crowds of over 40k and average 33k in league f***ing one, with the worst ever finish in the clubs history.
Yet you reckon the grounds to big and should have been limited to 35k.

I said should have been built at 35k. Build a waiting list and extend thereafter...eventually. Every man and his dog wanted to go when it was new and we were playing class.

Sitting at 20,500 at the moment plus say 2,000 Pompey and another 1,000 corporate means its already at 23,500, shift another 2,500 each of the next two days like we did today and it will be 28,500 with the walk up to add on Saturday. The walk up will be significant and I think we will be looking at around 33,000 by kick off which is reasonable given the demands on peoples cash and the short notice and the fact the game is live on the telly.

I think if we get close to the average league gate that would be decent and the average league gate was just over 32,000 for the season.
That seems optimistic. Why do you think the walk up will be significant?

So many bloody excuses.. The fact is that a low crowd for our most important game in years will make us a national laughing stock, and it is hard to argue against it..

It's not even

It will not because there will be no cash turnstiles..

The very simple fact remains that tens of thousands of our fans made a choice not to go a cup game against our biggest and bitterest rivals yet there's absolute outrage now when people choose not to go this game
It was their U21s.......this game v pompey is infinitely bigger and more important.

31k vs Man Utd in the 2014 semi. They had a 6k allocation 25K safc at home for a semi !!?? Just don't understand why our season ticket holders have never wanted to buy for certain games.

Some nuggets commenting here like. Do you support the club or do you support the sport of football? Might as well give up on Sunderland and go and support Manchester City.

Get your lazy arses to the match on Saturday and stop being an absolute petulant entitled bunch of pissrags. “I’ve done 84 seasons as a season ticket holder but won’t be there for the biggest game of the last decade for Sunderland because my arse has dropped”

Still not as embarrassing as these idiots who will be scouring for numbers on here if we pull it off

I wonder if first legs in general tend to be lower attendances as nothing is decided? no chance of seeing a heroic victory as its only ever half done.

If I had to choose due to finances/days off I'd probably bank on a Wembley final.

Hope if gets above 30k with a late surge.
