Criticising Luton long ball

Is absolutely pathetic. It's accepted by all, yes even Sunderland fans, that your players in comparison to Luton's, are small. Luton had tall forwards and midfielders. Do you REALLY think that should the roles be reversed, you wouldn't utilize the height differential to your benefit?

Luton were only using a very obvious advantage. You hardly created a chance all game and you didn't deserve to go through to the final. You were desperate and got what you deserved. The long ball argument some are trying to criticize is pathetic.
Been interesting to see what yous would have done (unless you're a honking mag) had Ballard Batth Alese Stewart and Cirkin started ...Still gone with the hoof ball I wonder ... actually probably aye as its what yous do.

Luton deserved the victory but fck me I couldn't bear to watch that every week.

I haven’t seen any comment where the long ball has been used as an excuse. We have accepted the defeat fair and square. I think you might be getting confused with football fans commenting on how boring it looks,,,,effective yes and within the rules of the game yes,,,,great to watch no.

Being part of the saudi sportswashing project, you'll be used to the time-wasting, hoofball tactics that your own team plays. No wonder you think it's OK for Luton to do it.

What about all the dirty tackles? Is that a legitimate tactic? (I lost count of the times ref played advantage and failed to go back and book a Luton player) Or fans assaulting players? Or handball in the area?

I hate footballing snobs.

It's like when Wenger used to complain about teams that wouldn't let his flowery little Arsenal side run rings about them.

Fuck 'em. You do what you need to do to win. That's all it comes down to.

This isn't theatre. It's not even entertainment really. It's football. It's competition.

Perfectly said Chris.

Exactly this - play to your strengths and do what it takes to win.

It’s always important to have a plan B when your usual style isn’t working.

It was clear to see after the first 20 minutes they all pressing very high, and we had zero out ball.

In that respect someone needed to drop into the middle to help Ekwah & Neil out to start keeping the ball to calm things down and or people to run in behind to give us an out ball to get us up the pitch.

We didn’t, they played it perfectly and battered us, could have been 4/5 nil.

Fair play to them, as you say do whatever it takes to win.

It’s professional sport man - players of all sports take every competitive advantage they can do win.

It’s up to the job of the officials to protect the players and if you get away with it and it’s working you carry on doing it.

However the fan issue is something different altogether

You ok hun ???

I think it was Matt Holland on the Talks port commentary last night who said "It's like beauty vs the beast, unfortunately the beast is winning".

Basically they played the only type of football they are capable of. It worked well against our depleted team, we couldn't cope.

Well done to them. But I'd hate to watch that every week.

Not sour grapes but I think Boro or Coventry will beat them.

It is entertainment Chris , I’m not knocking it and not many are criticizing Luton for it, but if that was the product every week , I’d watch a new sport .

Look Spotty - some of our fans are now connoisseurs of football. Unless you are watching lots of nutmegs, infinite passing in triangles and shots only from outside the box then you don’t know what you are missing.😉

Honestly what goes through the mags mind,

Let’s join RTG and post.

I heard wor amanda can’t go on your European trip as she will melt in the sun

Spotty Dick the Luton wanker, do one you muppet

I agree with @spotty , you play to your strengths. If I didn’t like how people were talking about me in the press, but I was rich and had access to a secret service, I would totally chop up the press, put them in bin bags, and use my money to buy a football team to look more like a man of the people - it’s playing to your strengths 1.01. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think Luton will get the win in the final. Whether they get a Boro or Coventry they'll come up against a side with centre halves playing in defence and strikers up front. The way they played was effective against us, it won't be effective against them.
