Cricket World Cup 2019

I am aware of that. This is the world cup though. The emphasis on cup competitions being a knock out competition. Certainly in the latter stages. It's not the Indian premier league. The emphasis on league competitions being the league format funnily enough.

The best thing about cup competitions is the drama of knock out games. Copying the ipl format for the world cup would be an absolute nonsense in imo.

They had a huge advantage in the semis playing nz and avoiding England and the Aussies. But they bottled it. Tough.

Pitches and what not will be hugely suited to them in 2023. The icc can heavily influence matters (in a variety of ways). I'm sure you know that though.

I am confused how giving a team who finished 1st and 2nd a better chance of getting to the final than the team who finish 3rd and 4th is absolute nonsense as it makes perfect sense to me.

I have always thought for years the way the IPL do it makes much more sense and rewards the side who have played the best cricket over the entire tourament which seems more fairer.

Yes they will be arguments for and against but it’s certainly not nonsense to reward the side who have played the best cricket and won the most games how can it be

And one thing is for sure there is no lack of drama in the IPL either.

As for your other point I just get bit sick reading on this board that the whole world is against us be it England, Durham or Sunderland.

I'd have been more than happy to have reverted to a format which involves more affiliate nations, 2 groups of 7 with 4 from each qualifying. A WC that goes straight into a last 4 takes away some of the excitement of KO games.

It's a cup competition not a league..I think there should be a difference. And 1st and 2nd placed teams currently do get an advantage.

Tbf your suggestions arent a nonsense. I just dont agree with them.

As for the ICC I think its more than reasonable to suggest they are heavily influenced by India these days.

And the ECB have shafted Durham.

And the fa definitely did shaft our womens football team.

I have always thought this for the football play offs too. Imo 6th should play 5th at the home of 5th placed team in 1 knockout match, winner plays 4th at theirs, winner plays 3rd at Wembley in the final. Rewards for all for finishing higher in the league. Just my opinion of course.

And can encourage teams to play their hardest right to the end rather than taking it easy in a dead rubber.

The fact that we've had 6 interminable weeks of often meaningless games, and then the business end is over in 6 days, is a nonsense. There should at least have been more games on weekends, perhaps even full rounds on Saturdays and Sundays with the rest spread through the week. Would have made it a more snappy schedule.

Eventually I realised this is in the event of complete washouts in the ko stage. Not really a serious advantage.

They do this in non league and Scotland.

Not as sick as I and others do listening to your constant championing of match officials or officialdom in general, try changing the record occasionally marra.

Once again mate I don’t champion officials, in fact quite the opposite as I expect a lot of mistakes,I state that it is too hard for the human eye and as soo job is too diffcult

Yep makes perfect common sense and a lot fairer

Fuckity buggersticks. My girlfriend has just reminded me we're taking our 15 year old son to see Yesterday at the pictures at 2.30 on Sunday afternoon. He's a massive Beatles fan and it was arranged ages ago  I need to try and avoid the score and watch it on catch up when we get back.

I can do this.

I am sorry marra, you need to bite the bullet on this one, tell them you feel ill (make sure the fridge is full first) tell them to go for a meal afterwards, and make it a great day, shit 2:30, erm you need to get them out earlydoors, tell them to do something else they like at around 10 in the morning, at 15 I liked sleeping. Sorry no idea, you need to do the pictures another day, organise a BBQ around the cricket and get your sons mates around, maybe some of his girls from school, for him obviously. WHY DOESNT HE LIKE CRICKET?
