Possibly one of the most disappointing days on a cricket field today. Langley were better than us in every dept today. It’s not often that’s happened in the last few seasons. Good luck to them tomorrow.
Well done to you guys, you’ve got a good crop of young batsmen there, the opening pair and the number 4 that saw you home. I thought we might have had a sniff when we got you 6 down. We were always going to struggle defending our modest total though on that road of a wicket. Our 2s won the Banks Bowl Plate at Willington today; the lads who got runs were all playing Sunday Academy last year and bypassed the 3s to play more serious stuff. Elated that the policy worked. As I said earlier, just a massive shame it was behind closed doors and only our Chair got to see the game

A great effort by all concerned to get the game on and a nice way to finish a season I didn’t even think would start.
Brandon vs Mainsforth - rain - play next weekAs per the Langley Park Twitter.Final cancelled due to the weather.Unconfirmed plans to play it next weekend
Great Hetton Lyons Cricket League Div 1 final today - Cowgate (150/9) beat Hetton (146/7) by 1 wicket.
For the seventh Cowgate wicket the batsman hit the ball straight low and hard, it struck the non-striker's bat and it spooned in the air to mid on who dived and caught it. Not heard of that happening before.
Was a cracking finish.
Cowgate lost 2 in 2 balls (one of them the one you described but I didn’t see it) and needed 2 runs with 1 wicket left, managed a single. The next ball looked as plumb as you could possible be, but not given. Next ball went for 4
I’m assuming you were in the bar and had the same square on angle as me so I couldn’t tell on that LBW, massive moment though. Had the scores been tied the Lyons would have won on wickets lost.
Some great pressure catches taken by the Lyons.
Any idea of scores mate.CheersBrandon vs Mainsforth - rain - play next week

Yeah, he umpired a couple of our games this year, always enjoys a bit crack at square leg, which is often where I field.Nice bloke, Jon Glen.
Always enjoyed a good crack on with him during the game when I was playing in the mid-week NEPL games.
Even though he once gave our young'un out first ball of the game at CLS
