Coventry

Coventry boss Frank Lampard wants ex-England midfielder Ross Barkley to be his first signing of the summer, with the 32-year-old out of contract at Aston Villa at the end of the season. (Alan Nixon via Give Me Sport)

Really going for it .
🤣🤣🤣
Good player. Not a bad signing at all.

He's a "Lets try and survive" signing, not a "let's give it a go" signing.

If he's the type of player that they are after they should go for Milner, and hes 40 man. Still better than Barkley. 😁

Well Simms was £7m and Hadji Wright £12m for starters
Simms was less than 4m unless we got promoted. Wright cost 7.7m which is still our all time record signing. No add ons as they ran out at the end of last season.

When we sold Sheaf to Wrexham it put us well into positive amount for transfers paid and received. We turned down a few big offers for our players. Next season is going to be interesting.

Well done this season 👏 Let’s see how you improve your squad for next season. It's our turn to try and survive, but at least we will be coming up full of confidence with a few decent players. Ipswich will struggle as they won't be able to dive their way to lots of extra points. If Southampton don't make it we will have two sides that will go straight back down.

Out of interest which of your players will be good enough to play in the PL?

Who do you think can step up?

Net spend 🤣🤣
Like the mags.
Few teams get to spend 30 odd million in the championship.
Few teams in the Championship sell their best players for over 40m. 2 players that cost us a total of just 2.5m that bought us our present 1st team.

I would get your point if we did it the Birmingham or Wrexham way, but even now we're still about transfer fee neutral. We're not like Ipswich and having obligatory signings that were not good enough.

Next season won't be easy, but we have Lampard who has done an amazing job so far and has improved our attacking play no end. Other than Southampton if they go up the other two sides will struggle more than us. We need to hope for a Prem side to struggle and things go right for us.

Good question.

We have several players that should be playing above Championship level but the jump up to the Prem is massive. Expect Rudoni to have a good season. Has been playing with an injury for the last 18 months but had an operation the day after we confirmed the Championship title. Expected to be back during pre season. Onyeka is proven at Prem level. If we manage to get Rushworth he is easily good enough.

Then you come to other players like Mason-Clark and Sakamoto that have been beating players for fun that will have a big part to play if good enough. Our 1st team will be good enough for squad players minimum. Wright and Simms will score goals but not as many. MVE as RB will surprise a few with his attacking and pace, but he will be needed more for defensive duties.

We're going to be more about a good close squad more than outstanding players. Our attacking play is quick with all of our players capable of scoring. We've just had 5 players score 10 goals or more each. Torp is now fit and keeps scoring worldies that no GK would save. He doesn't like shooting closer than 25 yards 😁

We've just had the best defence as well as the best attack. GD of +52 over the season isn't too shabby. But I have more confidence going forward than with the defence. If we don't strengthen our defence we will be in for a long hard season.
