Coventry

My other half disagrees. It’s Leicester for him.

After seeing what we’ve done to our ground this year, I think the CBS will need a big upgrade, I’m sorry. It’s fine as it is, but if you want the benefit of owning your own ground, you should invest in all sorts. We went big and I think it’s paying off.

I’m at the CBS on Boxing Day so I’ll have another look though!

It's come a long way from 3/4 years ago. That's the beauty of owning the place, you can make the improvements.

Even Doug King has said its a pressing issue and causing him problems, I took that as a lot of work to be done and no guarantee it will be finished. Ashley won't have spent loads on it, he will have done the bare minimum so it was ready for the new tennants

Even ipswich had to spend 22 million bringing Portman Road up to spec. But no, Mike ashley sorted the arena for you :lol::lol:
What did Luton have to stump up? Spent a ton on infrastructure and tumbled down two flights of stairs.

But you’ve only owned it since October?

I’ve been a lot the past four years or so and I can’t see there’s been a big upgrade tbh.

Yeah but we've upgraded the floodlights, turnstiles, safe standing, etc prior to owning it. Mike Ashley/Frasers upgraded the indoor arena and office space.

The differences in the past 2/3 years are stark. Indoor and outdoor fanzones, opening up the entire bowl to home fans, new segregation, new changing rooms etc.

It was a very poorly run stadium under Wasps. They were totally out of their depth and never had the funds to maintain basic infrastructure.

The outdoor fanzine was great when we went for the QPR game to be fair, but as I said, I can compare the CBS to the SOL and I think you still have to spend a ton of cash on it, to be anywhere near us.

Out of interest, what is it you think we'll need to do?

For a start, the bit under the seats as you walk in needs an entire redecorating. Revamp whatever concessions and beer/food stuff you have. New scoreboards. You need a proper segregation between home and away so you don’t need that massive banner in between losing seat space. Not been to the hospitality so not sure about that.

All I know is that I thought the SOL was fine, then we ended up spending £22m odd on it, and you can immediately tell the difference.

Tbh it’s not something you “need” to spend, but when you do spend it, it does make you feel like you’re a Premier League club. And that adds to the whole club morale and ethos. We’ve absolutely nailed that like.

Apparently there's loads of empty office space at tge ricoh, can't see them wanting that empty. I'd hazard a guess as part of the stadium deal if promotion was achieved within a time period 15 per cent of the 40 million they owe him would have to be paid immediately.
I can't see cov spending or being able to spend more than 80, 90 million.
We were lucky that we brought it 40 million from jobe and Watson that was effectively pure profit, Cov don't have that luxury

New scoreboards? We must have one of the biggest scoreboards in the country currently!

Proper segregation was put in 18 months ago and is ready to go. It's been further adapted in recent weeks.

All minor things really. The main parts such as press area, media suits and office spaces are in an abundance.

We don't owe £40m on the stadium. The overall cost is probably just a bit below that.

There is absolutely tons of it.

The stadium has always had endless potential and we're already seeing it. Ed Sheeran playing tomorrow night, Bob Dylan last week.

I don't know the ins and outs of financial fair play but what will help us is having a stadium which happens to also be a casino, exhibition hall, offices and hotels.
For a start lots of extra cabling for the cameras etc, sky don't just rock up like they do in the championship. That will be a fortune in itself

That's true. Not difficult in a modern arena. Parts of the cabling was upgraded for the Commonwealth Games a few years ago.

The big things Ipswich and Luton needed were huge infrastructure projects and both lacked space.

10 million just for the stand I think plus the rest on other areas

You paid ashley 40 million, but your debt at the time was to doug King 30 million interest free loan.
You didn't have the cash to pay him so you either took out another loan or you owe Ashley the money, owing Ashley the money makes more sense for both parties

It's likely mortgaged or paid by investors.

£40m (not confirmed by anyone, anywhere) is absolute peanuts.

40 million seems to be the price most people are saying.
Makes no sense for Cov or Ashley for Cov to have investors paying for it. The deal will be between Ashley and the club and like I say knowing how Ashley operates I'd expect him to demand a percentage of it up front on promotion

Yeah and that wouldn't be an issue at all. It's peanuts in reality.
