Sunderland fans threatened to destroy coventry city's memorial garden, where hundreds of Coventry fans ashes lay. And you wonder why coventry fans were angry. You turn up to a home game & go to visit your loved ones resting place, as you have done for every home game since they passed. Only to find its been fenced off with 10 security guards standing there because of threats by Sunderland fans. Now we get over the top reports of bags full of shit being thrown by cov fans, absolute BS. You should go on twitter where Sunderland fans are saying it was all over hyped. From fans who were sitting in lower tier saying it wasn't that bad. And if you'd have won the match nothing would have been said. So grow up & stop inciting trouble.

If anyone really wanted to smash a garden up do you think a shitty fence and a couple of stewards would stop them? Would they fuck man. The fact that nothing happened to the garden has more to do with our fans not being scum (something you lot would know nothing about) than some shitty 'measures' put in place. Get your head out of your arse and own up to the fact that you lot indiscriminately tossed all sorts at people including women, kids and the elderly

Pathetic Lies, no Sunderland fans were threatening to destroy the memorial garden.
You paranoid morons were winding yourselves up, no wonder you idiots started the trouble at the Ricoh and SOL.

"According to the Cov City fans forum on Facebook there’s talk of Sunderland supporters planning some kind of trouble at the game. Talk of damaging the Jimmy Hill statue, defacing the hall of fame walls and to “smash up” the memorial garden. I find the last one hard to believe but it has been threatened apparently.
Some of the Cov lads on there are talking of defending the above mentioned.
I take it this game will be a highly policed match? Upto 6000 Sunderland fans heading to the game, so could be tasty."

What a bunch of fuckwits

Oh so that’s it. They made it up on Facebook. Classic.

When Coventry die soon, will they scatter the clubs ashes in the same memorial garden?

Great, you've read Twitter. Win or lose people are going to be pissed off if they're hit on the head with a coin or bottle. Face it, you had a significant number of cowardly scum amongst your support on Saturday.

It wasn't opened until April 30 2016. When was the last time we played at Cov? I left the Cov area ten years ago and had never heard of it since.

Why call it the Jimmy Hill Memorial Garden? I could understand CCFC Memorial Garden or Sky Blues Memorial Garden but the Jimmy Hill Memorial Garden. Jesus Christ, they're elevating him to the level of a f***ing saint.

The Jimmy Hill Memorial Garden is an extension of the current memorial garden, and will boast a granite sculpture where fans can go to pay their respects and scatter ashes of family members.

Jimmy Hill Memorial Garden to open with special service this weekend
