We walked down the Strand on our way to a couple of bars down by the River.
Every side street you walked past was just a wall of noise coming down from G garden.
Then later on in the night random people on Rickshaws passing singing Wear on our Way.
Or the bar just round from G garden that wouldnt let anyone in who had colours on in. They had a band on not a peep from anyone until they started banging out the white Stripes. The suddenly everyone knew Vito. Walked through Govent Garden about 1 am , i have never seen so many bottles hoyed on the floor. I had never walked on so much broken glass since the 29 shut.
You are the groom to be fairIf we get there and if I get tickets I won’t be able to be there the night before. Unfortunately there’s a family wedding at Wynyard Hall I am ordered to attend.
Is it just me that’s getting irritated by the use of an ‘s’ at the end of Covent Garden on some posts?
Yes? Ok, as you were.
We will have to invite Robert Halfon MP to join us this timeI'd forgotten about the glass. After it all died down I remember picking my way through the debris and the whole area had this post apocalyptic feel. The sheer number of bottles heaped where bin-top crowd-conducting-guy had been was surreal.
Think I'll just be down on the day. Think Covent Gardens will be a massive let down, too many trying to recreate the night before the league cup final (especially those who weren't there) and it'll all feel very forced when it's just the night before a checkatrade final. Hope everyone there enjoys it like
Favourite night/day of me life so far.You seem to like nostalgia and that night in CG was nostalgic believe me. The afternoon before it was brilliant too great atmosphere in all the bars and this was 24 hours before kick off.. I got a massive surprise at how many of our fans turned out. We brought the West End to a stand still.
No trouble either, bloody hell they were closing tube stations there was that many on the streets.
It left me feeling that our support is very special and I have no doubt you’d have thought the same as well.
Favourite night/day of me life so far.
If we make it, let’s not complicate things. Why don’t we just go again, not worry too much about location or plans. Everyone knows Covent Garden and likes it. Have a drink and just have a good time.
It'll be a grand evening out if Sunderland fans are there and the drink is flowing, which it will be.
Do most the tubes run until late
The state of the sainsburys local with all the shelves cleaned out completely of booze.![]()
Brain and stomach still remembering! You ok?
Agree. It'll be a nice party atmosphere like. Just don't compare it to 2014 and it'll be fine. Can't wait myselfI know what you mean mate. The league cup final was one of the biggest games we've been to. The checkatrade is a bit of a non entity of a competition. So the levels of excitement for the match wont be the same.
But it's just a load of Sunderland fans getting pissed and having a laugh in the centre of London. And after the previous two seasons which have probably been the worst following us it's nice to potentially be looking forward to that.
Fooking shame that likeIf we get there and if I get tickets I won’t be able to be there the night before. Unfortunately there’s a family wedding at Wynyard Hall I am ordered to attend.
Yep there'll be a few in that section, now you think you're safe in the prem. Phew eh?
Biff.
I’ve still got his reply to my e-mailWe will have to invite Robert Halfon MP to join us this time
Muslims mate dont drinkOi, I was with my bride and daughter in Covent Garden on the day before the match and after the match. They loved it locked in the Nags Head. Never stopped laughing.
