Trafalgar Square 98 was better
And I fell out of a fountain!
No chance - it was awesome but Covent Garden 5 years ago was absolutely unbelievable

Think I'll just be down on the day. Think Covent Gardens will be a massive let down, too many trying to recreate the night before the league cup final (especially those who weren't there) and it'll all feel very forced when it's just the night before a checkatrade final. Hope everyone there enjoys it like

Am sorry like, but standing around outside in a sidestreet with a few cans chatting to mates is no longer my cuppa tea.
Don't feel as though I missed owt in 2014, and certainly wudnt bother this time around IF we get there.
Each 1 to their own though.
If you think Covent gardens was just "standing with a few mates having some cans and a chat" then you definitely missed out. For most people who like football it was an unforgettable experience. If having a drink and a sing with thousands of like minded fans and looking forward to what might me one of the biggest moments of your life is just the same as sitting with a few cans then you're missing a lot from a sport you love and I can't help you
Don't need any help ta.
Had a top night ourselves in Farringdon just down from Kings Cross.
Like I say, each one to their own, glad you had great time but just not for me ta.
OK man, don't sweat it.Fair enough, but whether it's your thing or not, and whether you enjoyed yourself just as much in Farringdon, it's a bit daft comparing Covent Gardens to "a few cans on the street with your mates". When I get old I might not want to stand in the middle of it, but I'd still acknowledge that it'd be class for those that do and not just like drinking a few cans ffs
You seem to like nostalgia and that night in CG was nostalgic believe me. The afternoon before it was brilliant too great atmosphere in all the bars and this was 24 hours before kick off.. I got a massive surprise at how many of our fans turned out. We brought the West End to a stand still.OK man, don't sweat it.
If I under played it a tad then so be it, IT'S NOT A CRITICISM FFS.
Anyway enjoy IF we make it, over and out.
Promised mesell in 1973, when I didn't get down for the game, that I'd never miss a day at Wemberley if we ever got there again. So far I've managed to keep that promiseThats cause most people will be watching it either in the local or at home. Doesnt take much planning or expense compared to a trip to wembley. For the semi ill spend about 20 quid and be home 20 mins after the final whistle.
That's no problem as I'm staying at the IBIS at WembleyMetropolitan line, takes about 40 minutes. It's a nightmare at Wembley park at full time though.
It is where we have been for all but 73 FFSIs the East Stand where we were for the Man City final?
And this is why it won't be the same second time round. We need to select a different location in London, should we get there this time. Sadly i don't know enough of the place to suggest anywhere....You seem to like nostalgia and that night in CG was nostalgic believe me. No trouble either, bloody hell they were closing tube stations there was that many on the streets.
It left me feeling that our support is very special and I have no doubt you’d have thought the same as well.

I was sat in a bar nearby with my son who decided he needed a walk to clear his head, 10 min later he came running back in saying 'Dad, you gotta see this!' I downed my pint and walked up a street, turned a corner and was hit by a wall of noise. It was amazing, Sunderland fans packed in the whole area with massive chants going up. I know what you mean mate. The league cup final was one of the biggest games we've been to. The checkatrade is a bit of a non entity of a competition. So the levels of excitement for the match wont be the same.Aye that's the thing. For those of us that were there Covent Garden was one of those memories you'll take to the grave. Hell, I remember being told everywhere had sold out of alcohol, ended up at a (I think) Tesco, ages away and even it had almost nothing left. The singing all night, the atmosphere, it was amazing. But that was the night before a (fairly) major cup final. If we won against that city side it would have been similar to 73, it would have got us into Europe which most have never experienced. It was a one off, you can't just turn up there for a checkatrade trophy final, get pissed and expect it to be the same. It won't be. Like I say, hope everyone there has a mint time, it'll be better than a night in the house I'm sure, but it seems forced and it won't be like the fairly spontaneous madness in 2014
