Where’s this from? The Pakistan series starts mid August so I assume the hundred will be a week to 10 days earlier to finish by then. So why would we play no championship cricket for the second half of August? We’ll probably be no better off. They’ll move the July game. But what you are saying makes no sense at all, even by ECB standards.

I read somewhere that The Hundred commences 16 th July so presumably will finish Mid August. Each team in the T20 will play only 12 league games with the play offs following immediately on so presumably be scheduled from late May to mid July.
As is the norm nowadays the CC will bookend the season.
The above planning, however, was probably based on the assumption that each team would play only 12 CC games.

Yeah, just feels like a wasted 6 months trying to reform the game for nothing
The PCA are saying a lot of players are already saying they will boycott the 50/50 and might go on strike to stop the county championship from starting.

Yes the actual players wanted the reduction not the county CEOs or the ECB because of the hundred.

Surrey have one of the larger squads but when Surrey did an internal poll, the squad voted 31-0 in favour of retaining the current CC format.

I can understand how some of the teams with smaller squads might struggle with demands but the increased money from the Hundred can be reinvested to support larger squads.

The 50 over game already has large numbers of fringe squad players represented which is a great opportunity for them and the quality is still great.

If the ECB wants to help reduce the demands on players, they could bin the Kookaburra experiment which would simultaneously make a number of games more competitive and enjoyable. Kookaburra games led to longer innings and more strain especially on bowlers.

How would people feel about reverting back to the old system with a little tweak?

One CC division, a 40 over Sunday league and a T20 competition instead of two one day cups (NatWest & B&H)?

Jonny Bairstow has extended his contract with Yorkshire for another two years.

2025 overseas players: David Bedingham (South Africa), Brendan Doggett (Australia), Zak Foulkes (New Zealand), Neil Wagner (New Zealand), Codi Yusuf (South Africa), Jimmy Neesham (New Zealand), Shafiqullah Ghafari (Afghanistan)

Shafiq is not registered as an overseas player surely?

Is/was there some sort of refugee/asylum seeker programme that he eligible for not to be considered an overseas player?
