County Cricket 2024

Should’ve tagged Rob Key.

Yep, it was a much greater achievement than Alex Davies’.
Did say Key would be delighted with how it's gone.

He wanted 7/14 games to be used with Kookaburra according to this.

Some data and quotes for people to get their teeth into in here.

The scores throughout the shires look more recognisable to cricket this week than the previous two.
Yeah lots of wickets by the specialist county meduim pacers. Really good chat on commentary at the Somerset game this morning between Pete Trego and Vic Marks about it. Basically saying if they continued it would be the end of the 75mph bowler but there would be far to many draws to make the championship interesting.

And the last point is the most valid for me.

If you have too many draws, especially draws where you not even close to a result and that happens too often it will mean fans wil lose interest.

And then you on a very dangerous path

Yes you need competitive cricket with a variety of bowling how you get there is the difficult part.
Pete Trego made a great point which i had never thought off in that its actually England is the odd ball of international cricket because of our climate and he has played all over the world and nowhere actually compares to England even New Zealand where he played for 2 years.

Yeah it clearly difficult to get the correct balance between bat and ball in this country and climate it’s always easy to criticize the powers of be and the decision makers

But the trial of kookaburra ball has to tell all concerned that with that ball the balance tipped miles to far in batsmans favour.

Agree, that doesn't make for good cricket.😀 Today where a full day's play was possible most games were in to the 2nds innings

Middlesex need 76 runs to beat Yorkshire with 7 wickets remaining - whilst they’re not there yet, I really fancied laying Yorkshire this season. Their price for the Division was mental given how much upheaval their side will face with international call-ups and truth be told I don’t rate their bowling that highly.
