From the looks of it Karunaratne isn’t playing so everyone is just shuffling up one. Don’t think there’s anything major in that one.

We know what leach brings, Parkinson needs the chance, both can play in winter tbf
Listened to the wisden podcast and they were saying theyd have bairstow in their team at 5 or 7 with the gloves BUT couldnt pick him for the 1st test as he would have played 0 1st class games whilst Brooks is averaging 150+ and Bohannon is in form (bad time to fail today) and Foakes averaging over 100.
Basically saying county form needs to be rewarded.
They had sibley and lees opening with Crawley at 3 saying Bohannon needed more 100s to merit being picked.

Bairstow for foakes and I wouldn’t disagree

Jennings should have opened in india I maintain that, just pick him in Asia he’s quality there

Bairstow is off playing franchise somewhere, I believe? He's only got a few days turnaround before the first test. No red ball cricket and Foakes is the man in possesion. Easy enough decision unless injury or an absolute calamity from BF in the 1st test forces a change.

Agree with your point on Jennings. An Indian/Asian tour would see him truly considered.

He is but he can adjust, 2 100s in his last 4 tests

Has to play. I think he will tbh

Aye they seem fine picking bowlers just for Asian tours but not batsmsn. Never understand that

I can't see them selecting Bairstow for the 1st test mind. If Foakes has a howler, then fair enough bring him in but otherwise I see no reason to make the change.

Selecting Parkinson will send the right message imo that they looking to select a spinner to take wickets rather than one to just tie a end up.

It may not work but we need to brave with selection and take a risk or two, we will have a very good seam attack so think we can afford to take a little risk with the spinner

Indeed. However, are we veering towards JB being in the side without the gloves? Not for me. So, at it stands yes, Brook comes in for Jonny. Unlucky, as he has been at times for this test side.
 
Good start to the season for Foakes, would be looking at Bairstow, Stokes and Foakes as our 5-7 with the number 3 slot and an opening position up for grabs. Brook couldn't have done anymore but we don't really need another number 5 at the moment.
