Council Tax Rebate

But it's nowt to do with the council.
The government have paid councils money, for them to dish out to residents

Unless of course you live in a Tory area?
Do they not choose when/how to pay it back though?

So why are some people from other areas saying they're receiving it as credit?

If you pay by DD the Council have to pay it back
If you don't you can choose to have the cash or offset it against your Ctax liability

Any Council not doing that is not adhering to the Government guidance

And the Council will be paying the money out of their own coffers and having to claim it back from central Government I expect.

I think the ones saying that live in Scotland, maybe they have different rules?

The government have paid up front
I don't think even them would expect councils to fork out 10's millions first then claim it back

Surely the band E squad are loaded man, everyone knows this.

We are mate we’re so loaded that we get absolutely no financial breaks from the state at all. Which is fair enough because the cost of living crisis doesn’t apply to us. We’re so loaded who cares if your gas and electric bill has doubled.

Actually that's another bonkers idea about it. It's only paid to people who are liable for Ctax as at 1st April. So it's tough shit if you move out of your mates/parents/marital home on the 2nd April or thereafter.

f***ing Tory idiots.

It's all a bit daft and does little to help those truly struggling anyway.

I haven't received any communication about this; have Sunderland council engaged online / social media about when they're expecting to pay? Or anyone have any insight apart from them having until September?
