Anyone know when Durham County Council residents can expect theirs?

Good point, god knows then.
Might have had something to do with occupancy?
You probably know the reason for this.A) you have to give £150 back to anyone paying by direct debit. The council have no choice, they can't offset it against the Ctax liability. So....Sunderland are going to deduct the first instalment from bank accounts and then have to pay it back. All by BACS, every transaction costing money. Why did the Government not say offset by default but give the money to anyone who wants it.
B) anyone not on DD has to apply. Most Council's have 60% on DD, so for Sunderland that'll be 40000+ applications. Not many Council websites will cope with that volume of traffic
C) The government have stated that checks need to be made where the name on the Ctax account isn't exactly the same as the name on the DD mandate....which will be administratively a pain in the scrotum. There'll be maiden names, spelling mistakes, parents paying, children paying, landlords paying etc
Why did the Government not instruct energy companies to rebate energy bills.?
Probably complete an online application form. Looks like Sunderland's applications open around 11th April. Unfortunately, every Council will be different depending on which software provider they use for Council TaxMe Dad pays his at the post office. What does he have to do?
Quite cute of the council sticking £150 in people's banks a week before the local elections.
And rightly so, as they aren't allowed to do that. How would you feel if HMRC kept hold of a rebate you were entitled to?There'd be loads of twisting if they kept hold of the money for a few weeks until after the election
Upfront in bankI’m confused then, do you get all the cheddar up front or do councils decide whether to take it off your monthly’s for the next year?
If you pay by DD it's paid directly into the bank account where the payments are made from (assuming the Ctax payer matches the bank account name)I’m confused then, do you get all the cheddar up front or do councils decide whether to take it off your monthly’s for the next year?
A lot of pensioner's will struggle with that.Probably complete an online application form. Looks like Sunderland's applications open around 11th April. Unfortunately, every Council will be different depending on which software provider they use for Council Tax
Only if you pay by DDUpfront in bank
Complete joke tbh, wouldn’t mind £150 in the old bread bin right now.Councils have until September to pay it
Some day that budMost be spending it on drink, cigs, drugs and gambling and gone in a day

I'm not sure what your whole point is tbh. I wasn't Complaining about anything. I was being sceptical at the fact it looks like a nice little sweetener to residents from a Council that will probably taking a bloody nose in the up and coming elections. If they want to give me £150 back I won't be complaining about anything. However, I won't be voting for them either, so it's win win for me. They've hidden it in the 3.5% rise anyway.Make your mind up, you were complaining about them paying it this month, complaining if they paid it next month.
