They are a machine away from home if we're talking wins but very rarely dominating games. They seem to have long periods in games where they are shite and second best. They'll lose another two or three before the season's over.

Agreed. but their set up suits not having the ball much and being able to defend. Its when the onus is on them to attack/open up teams that they seem to struggle. If they only lose three more games they are home and dry.

I'll be surprised if they mess it up now but it does happen, in championship especially.

I think this season has been a bit of a wake up to them, they began at the start of the season telling all who would listen, that we are gonna walk it, and yet like always with there arrogance, fate has given them a slap round the face, they have teams who are not now or ever going to let them just walk it, they may just realise that, the championship of today, is a division in which is tough, and not something you can just assume, you have all sorted from the moment, you first kick a ball in august.

Would anyone fancy them to win the play offs if by some miracle they drop out the top two?

Bearing in mind the two teams who are currently fighting it out for 6th have a 100% win record against them the season. Played 3 won 3

They're top of the league though 6 points clear of third. I'd take that as my wake up call us this time next year.

The mags have the easiest run in, have the best squad and the points on the board. All in their favour. Those wins against Brighton and Huddersfield got the job done in reality.

They might have he best team when all their players are fit, but the best squad is debatable?

A few injuries and the hastily assembled squad is no better than the opposition.

EFL Championship Predictor

95 pts might be needed. None of three teams choked last season in the last 9 of the 46. None of them lost a game. It could be the same this season. Down to the wire.

You've got that the wrong way round. Their squad is why they are were they are. They lose their best forward and have others to come in and score the goals instead. The others don't have that option.

That's the hype. Wait for the excuses.

Squad is one short in central midfield. And that's including Colback.

Huddersfield seem to have cover and only one serious injury: Kasey Palmer. There only drawback seems to be keeper mistakes.

Let's break it down;

Newcastle

Birmingham (A)
Wigan (H)
Burton (H)
Sheffield Wednesday (A)
Leeds (H)
Ipswich (A)
Preston (H)
Cardiff (A)
Barnsley (H)

Huddersfield

Bristol City (A)
Burton (H)
Norwich (H)
Nottingham Forest (A)
Preston (H)
Derby (A)
Fulham (H)
Wolves (A)
Birmingham (A)
Cardiff (H)

Brighton

Leeds (A)
Blackburn (H)
Birmingham (H)
QPR (A)
Wolves (A)
Wigan (H)
Norwich (A)
Bristol City (H)
Villa (A)

Only way mags aren't going up is if there away from takes a U turn as their home fixtures are the easiest set of games you could ask for

Looking at Newcastles next three games it could be all over in three weeks..

Taking six points off Huddersfield and Brighton has ensured promotion.

They're coming up, we're going down..

That should be

Newcastle 86
Brighton 83
Huddersfield 78 (with a game in hand = 81 equivalent)

Then they all have away games. TV have picked Brighton v QPR on the Friday.

If Huddersfield go into their game in hand knowing they can close it to three the pressure will be huge compared to what it is for the mags sitting seven clear.

So far when it's mattered the mags have got the job done whilst Huddersfield have failed. Hopefully it changes.

It's shit when you're right :(

This is just like before you had the run of three away games to the top teams, plenty saying youd find yourselves in a hole and instead you went and won two and drew one. The fact of the matter is every time there has been a chance to really put the pressure on the other teams have failed, and the reason is because they're not very good. You will be fine, especially with your away record.

:(

tell that to some people on here who think your lot will walk it next season

fwiw i had hopes of us getting promoted i knew wed get beat in games as our squad still has some absolute shite in it but its panned out as i expected for most of season. the only shock to me is how Villa and Norwich haven't challenged consistently

Newcastle are like a snake that squeezes the life out of its prey slowly. Reidy's 105 point team were more like a tiger ripping its prey to shreds and devouring it.

Our squad would get promoted. It's rather unlikely we will have that squad though.
