Could Leicester go bust?


Just realised they haven't a penny in transfers this season. They are deep in the doodoo.

Their wage bill was £150m this season, average in L1 is £9m. It's doubtful that they have clauses for relegation to L1 so will still be paying ridiculous wages, if they do manage £40m it won't even touch the sides.

I didnt realise that was their wage bill mind. 3m a week? surely that cant be correct, thats 30 players on 100k a week. Was it not 50m? had a quick look online and that seems to be is mentioned, granted i used a google search

From next season, clubs in League One will be restricted to spending 60% of their extra football income - such as prize money, cup earnings or transfer fees received - on player-related expenditure.

They've weirdly kept 9 golf holes from when it used to be a golf course for the players/staff to use though and have a full on team managing it seperate to the training ground ground staff :lol:

I'm no businessman, but if they're keeping it surely they should have been using that for corporate events or even allowing public use with memberships etc. Some decent money being left behind there :lol:

They basically took out a loan against the parachute payments so they effectively got their parachute money early. So as soon as the payments come in they will immediately go back out again to repay the loan, which will of course have cost them interest as well

They've got some players out of contract tbf. Still.

And they didn't spend a single penny on transfer fees this season!
 
It's obviously all over our local news tonight (I'm round those parts) and I can't help but feel for the fans cos I remember how utterly awful it felt when we did our own drop a few years ago, and obviously I know a fair few Leicester fans, went to uni and worked in the city for a while.

Can't completely rule out liquidation, but given the amount of land the club owns in both Leicester and Seagrave (site of the training ground) it's highly unlikely.

There are a lot of London-based scribes still bitter, ten years on, that we deprived their faves of a title they feel they deserved.

They're revelling in our current misfortune, but are secretly terrified that we may bounce back even stronger than before.

Trouble for us is, we don't (yet) have a Nigel Pearson-like figure to rebuild the club as we did in 2008..
