Could Leicester go bust?

I was thinking it was winning the premier league then trying to maintain a high standard of player at the club afterwards. In hindsight if they had of just bought within their means after winning the Premier none of this would have happened. Of course their owners having financial difficulties hasn’t helped but that’s why these PSR (or whatever they are called now) rules were brought in, so that clubs can operate within their means.
This!

They chased the big Champions League money all while spending more and more on player wages as you can see by the red line below going from £80m to over £200m. Although a tragic event, that helicopter crash did not cause that rise in wages.

They failed to finish top 4 for CL, more so in the 2 seasons finishing 5th. The blew a 14 points gap they had after 21 games in the 1st season and then a 7 point gap in the last 5 games in the 2nd season, finally blowing it with just 15 minutes of the season to go with a huge keeper error from Schmeichel.

See post #141 and #144 in link below for more waffle to see just how close they got and how they messed it up as it could have been so different for them.

Wonder if we try and get Fatawu on the cheap to replace Traore. We apparently bid towards £30m for him last summer and got knocked back. Wonder how little they’d accept now?

Despite their poor season, his highlights this season still include some really good goals
He’s officially a league one player now and they need to sell.

I’d say £5m will be fair.

Probably a mix aye. Not sure how it was going just after winning it etc but the people who stepped in once the owner died certainly escalated it for worse, his son included

I’m seeing comments on Twitter where people are saying they’re not in as bad a mess as we were when we dropped to L1.

To me it would seem spending all your parachute money early with a massively overpaid squad is just as bad or worse than when we’d promised our parachute money to Ellis short to clear the debt he’d paid off.
It's far worse. There MAY be a sale but it seems less likely. They have a wage higher wage bill, yes a better squad but they're damaged good and who's going to want them? Plus, just like is, everyone's going to beat them in League One. We had many drawbacks but at least the debt was cleared.

What they need now is a chancer along with his mate who wears salmon chinos, to buy them with their own parachute payments and then gas light their fans for 4 years about how well they’re run.
Unfortunately they've already mortgaged the parachute payments so the chancers would need to find somebody else's money to play with!

It's also worse as they were last in the Premier League for only 1 season, so they only get 2 years of parachute payments (this season and next) added to the fact they've already spent next years cash, they're pretty well screwed and the vultures on the outside know it.

2002 - go and look it up. Went into administration, blamed it on the itv Digital deal collapsing and left all unsecured creditors out of pocket. Nothing to do with with internal in-fighting over club ownership/leadership, the money loaned to build the new stadium or the dodgy transfer deals, oh no......
That was so bad the FA had to change the rules.

I was just thinking, after our first season in L1, there were rumours Donald has moment he considered administration. They've got all that debt, running costs and not that many saleable assets. As good as in admin for me.

That was meant to say everyone's going to WANT to beat them.

They’re in no position to get 40m
But if there is interest from other clubs, they might be happy to pay a decent fee. i think they will earn around that ballpark figure assuming thy sold both of those lads plus a few others. Football is mad. When we went down we recouped around 25m in fees and we were in a terrible position financially and desperate to shift the wages

Do you think forest would even want it? Don't get me wrong it's a class facility but it's a lot to take on.
If the price is good I reckon he/they would. Can probably do a lot with it theres some good land there.

They've weirdly kept 9 golf holes from when it used to be a golf course for the players/staff to use though and have a full on team managing it seperate to the training ground ground staff
