If we say, for arguments sake that he was offered £80K and that money is now free, we can offer Onions most of that and sign another player with what's left + what Arshad is on. That is if we're allowed to do so.

There is but in the long run it will be better for Durham if the players know there is no coming back once they choose to leave. Remember if you leave Durham you have to up sticks and move home because of our location. A lot of players move counties but they are close to each other and do not have to relocate.
It would be a great first step to block any kind of return for Borthwick.

No we will have a budget akin with a minor counties side within the next couple of years if ECB have their way.

We are actually inside the ECB imposed budget this season. If we had wanted to we could have signed a 2nd overseas for the T20. But i don't think long term we could afford it.

Hes never even played a full season for us, we've paid him to be injured, given him captaincy opportunities and hes fucked off.

Don't blame rocky or badger but coggers leaving is a disgrace

In general terms, Durham have for years offered kids peanuts hoping they would get away with them signing. A lot has been documented over the last few years in relation to this which you should be aware of anyway.

Without knowing thr full story were all just speculating.

I just feel given the lad has been injurer more than playing he could show a bit more loyalty.

But ultimately it up to each individual

No they haven't

Stoneman, Jennings, Borthwick and Coughlin were all offered very good deals

He's clearly rated highly, and as such his market value is dictated by what he can get from Notts. Its up to Durham to match this.

The loyalty argument doesn't wash either. As long as Durham can release players who have given good service, then they can't complain if players choose to leave.

Very true Stuart Rayner makes a good point on his twitter feed about Mustard and Muchall it works both ways. Onions in a similar position this season.

Well if they are leaving purely for the pound note then not good enough. Enough people on here like to refer to them as mercanary.

I agree with the good service bit. But Coughlin hasnt given good service. He has kept Nigel Kent in a job though

Depends on what you mean by good deals......clearly they could get better elsewhere.......durham have tried to do things on the cheap for a few years now and are paying the price when it's comes to loyalty

I've voiced my concern about Harker for years and I would gladly see the back of Lewis also

As someone who doesn't work for dccc I can criticise the club and players alike.

Would have liked mustard to stop on and will be a disgrace if bunny isn't offered a deal he is happy with
