Converting an old videcamera cassette to a dvd help

It just has the 3 plug in bits ie red,yellow and white. To watch them i just plug them into the back of the telly and play it through the camcorder, but i want to convert one onto a dvd so i can send it to someone


I've got an old vhs player somewhere. Why would i have to put it onto a vhs tape, then onto a dvd though? could i not go straight from the camcorder?

from the camcorder, go to either the tv or dvd recorder using the composite leads. record via the dvd recorder.
