Winger
I have been injured on and off for approaching six months now. I have gone from running 40-60 miles per week @ 7-7.30 min mile pace to nowt.

My problems consist of aggravated achilles, groin problem, glutes, lower back and recently pins and needles in my hand while doing the X Trainer at the gym.

I have not ran for approaching 2 months now but end of January started at the gym hoping building my core up again would help.

The problem I have is these injuries are all on my left side which is also my dominant side.

I have been to physio for months now and they are at a loss as to what is up.

Any of you fine folk have any idea or experiences similar to what I am having.

Am now officially desperate and f***ing sick!

I’m not an expert but it could be nerve damage?

Was there a triggering factor?

If the physio is stumped then it might not be musculoskeletal?

I think that I’d do swimming, Pilates, yoga until I had a diagnosis.

I’m not even sure what sort of medical practitioner you need to be referred to.

Started last year when I slipped a bit and jarred my back. Had acupuncture and was ok until about September when it all went tits up again for no apparent reason.

Am hoping its a nerve to be honest as it’s getting ridiculous now.

I do Pilates and stretch loads. I can do squats, lunges, bike etc just not impact running. Already had to pull out of the Lakeland 50 and gutted.

60 miles a week is pretty high mileage mate , you in a local club ? Maybe not enough recovery ?

If you’re getting pins n needles then it’s definitely back related (could well be a disc issue which causes nerve problems )

If your local go visit SR Acupunctute top of strawberry bank near tunstall hill , worth a punt for £25, he is a back specialist , you may just be out of alignment

I am a member of Washington Running Club but until I got injured I was pretty much in constant training for the Lakeland 50 again.

I will have a look at that mate cheers.

What’s up with you?
I’ve ran since 18 mate but apart from the last 4 year it was all just social runs and running for general fitness, no sessions or owt just normal steady runs , all on tarmac , body prob knackered by then when started club running few year back just got one niggle after the other , constant , then slipped disc in back 2 year back and been struggling since . As dan says - old age . If ever get back will be mixing it with swims and bike.
Hope you get sorted (lass I work with runs Washington )

Just started doing it mate, am off running a constant morning glory but hoping it helps like. Getting too old mate!

A lady I worked with suffered from chronic back pain too and took up Pilates - really helped her. Got into it to the point she trained to become an instructor. Hope you get sorted with your problems soon.

Who is she, we have quite a few members now like

Have you spoken to your GP? Sounds like you need to see a back specialist as it could be disc-related - be careful with chiropractors, they're not doctors.
