Coffee shops in Sunderland


Just wanted to post a 'shout out' for Sonny's @Poprecs. Went there on Monday lunchtime before returning down here & was shocked to see the carpark next to it closed, and getting dug up (or something). Wasn't easy to find somewhere else to park close by, but I persevered and enjoyed a much needed coffee & a bite to eat. I hope that the parking isssue doesn't impact too much on their footfall, it was canny busy when I was there, mind. The staff there are great.

houses and some shops are being built where the carpark used to be

Let me know what you think, I've been in a few times now, popped in at the weekend and they've opened up their seating area now.

Yeah that area mate, it's next to Holmlands Park, next door to a hairdressers.

Think I walked past it , could see somebody painting @mini-x2 barnet jet black, the hairdresser that is not the cafe

Absolute class. Coffee is high quality and the pastry was canny. Got a bit of character too.
 
They've only just moved into their new premises.

Thieves got away with an old laptop and some small coffee items, which the owners estimate to be worth around £50, but they’ve been left with around £1000 worth of damage at the Grinder Coffee in New Durham Road Sunderland.
