Looks an absolute liability. If signed, Coates will certainly add to SAFC,s dead wood quotient!
 
The lad has played 11 times for Liverpool since signing from a Uruguayan team in 2011 and he's only 24. With this in consideration I can't see how he can be written off so soon. He defended well against Southampton IMO despite not looking fit. He made two suicidal passes but still had a comfortably higher pass completion % than O'Shea.

Having said the above I don't think we should be taking expensive gambles for the foreseeable. If his transfer fee and wage demands are high then it's a definite no but otherwise I'd take a punt.
 
Was outstanding today promising young centre back made less mistakes than o Shea and brown
