Club are looking to extend the stadium

I'd rather any spare money they have is pumped into the playing squad to either get us into the PL or (fingers crossed and we go up) keep us there, rather than installing 1000s of extra seats that won't be used. 48k is more than ample for us given it's probably been filled to capacity for less than 5% of our games since is was extended to that size.

Murrays dream was to extend to 55,555.5. The big problem is the cost of materials these days means it would probably cost as much to extend the east stand than it did to build the whole sol in 1997.

Though I think Berb bought all the steel for the south stand extension

Apparently safe standing had no effect on capacity as it is just someone standing where they would normally sit. They’d what they said when safe standing was announced for St James

This is the case for converting most existing stadia as the entrances/exits/facilities have a safety capacity. So unless you retrofit additional space and facilities you'll only ever get 1:1 or less.

EFC (and I think THFC) have built additional facilities into their build and the safe standing area can go to 1.3:1 should the law change.

I think their loyalty is shown to be better than ours, we are allowed to be criticised.......weve had some low low times without a doubt but im probalys in a minority here but a lot of our supporters pride ourselves on our support and so we should to a degree. However is it that great? is it that fantastic? Ive been there for 32 years now (I think) without a break as its the norm to me, you support your team through thick and thin etc. Not everybody has that inside them though..
I think there are fair criticisms of both clubs for various reasons. One thing nobody can criticise is the support of either Sunderland or Newcastle. Between both, in my lifetime, they have won 1 trophy. That's one Cup in 54 years. Considering that the support both enjoy is outstanding.

Wasnt he quoted as saying he wanted one more seat than Newcastle?

According to Magnus over the road.

Lets forget about empty seats etc. If Sunderland want to compete seriously we need to get the infrastructre ready for the next 10 years etc.

Good move in my opinion

I'm sure I must've missed something here but whe exactly is Magnus over the road???!! 😂

For a more modest outlay we could install pink seats, that keep their colour.

That lot up the road wouldn’t be able to contain themselves that one of their jibes was no longer relevant. I’m sure that some of them would self combust.

It would be akin to us using SMB for this message board

It’s not really between both tho is it.

Between us and man u we’ve won 13 premier league titles.

We should incorporate a hotel into the east stand redevelopment, with suites that look onto the pitch, the cost would be split between the hotel company and the club and would tick a box for future euro finals,
