Club are looking to extend the stadium

Probably already been covered in the long thread, but I think I’d rather money allocated towards the stadium would be best spent on giving it a good clean and improving the concourses and toilets.

An extension isn’t needed. If we were selling out every week I’d understand but that seems a long way off.
Ok thank you for explaining, fair point .

I dont see any extending of the ground in the near future ,however if it ever happened I think extending the east stand would be a better option .Would be better for concerts ,because one end of the ground is closed off for concerts to take place .

If you were going to do the east stand it would make sense to lift the full roof up even if you aren’t going to fit out the whole sections.

Safe standing would increase capacity without extending.

(Unless safe standing just means the same space just without a seat.)
Apparently safe standing had no effect on capacity as it is just someone standing where they would normally sit. They’d what they said when safe standing was announced for St James

If we were to extend I would hope that most of it would be executive boxes/corporate entertainment and media facilities.

If they extend, they should extend the Roker end as standing only in a single tier up to the same height of the Main Stand so that it resembles the old Roker End. Charge much lower season ticket prices for this stand only and I bet it would be full most games.

Thought it was same height as main stand?

Do you mean now ? The front of the roof is the same height as the main stand, but the back of the Roker End is way lower than the back of the Premier Concourse in the Main Stand. The original extension plan was for two tiers like the North Stand, but I thought a single large tier would be better although the back would be further away from the pitch than the original plan. No new corporate facilities either, just loads of cheaper places just like the ‘ends’ used to be.

Interesting idea that. Clubs seem to be going that way (Spurs, Everton) as atmosphere is being valued more now.

Cannot have standing only tho, it has to be safe standing which is a seat with a rail in front so the prices wouldnt go down

Sorry, I meant safe standing throughout the Roker End, and lower prices to go with it. Greater differentiation in prices will allow price increases as we become more successful but still allow fans to go and not be priced out of attending.

We are having safe standing in the stadium 24-25 season (I think)...I expect it will be in the south stand

The first thing they should do, is move the tv cameras to the east stand, Boro have done it, Luton have also done it, as have Blackburn.
That’s a great idea. The stadium would look more impressive on TV, and we could put the away fans in the North Stand lower below their own away fans next to the NE corner. With suitable walls in the concourse and tucked away from the main cameras. Also sell the bottom tier first so it won’t be noticed on the TV, with larger allocations getting into the upper tier where they are now.
