Club are looking to extend the stadium

Some seats are £35 though. I imagine they'll increase again this summer when season tickets are getting a 20% hike.

Its not unrealistic to expect another hike if we went up.
Aye, most tickets might go up to 35 quid, which won't be bad for prem if we get there. I think people will pay that no worries to see lpool, man u, man city and that

Our last 6 completed seasons we've been relegated twice and spent 4 in league one ffs.

Of course we're not selling out, nee fucker else would under those circumstances.

I really don’t get your argument. The fact is we are not selling out, we are not filling our ground. How hard is that to understand ?? Doesn’t matter about circumstances. The stupid club are considering extending a ground we simply can’t fill at this moment on time.

They aren't though. It's a bullshit poster pretending he has info.

So you think crowds aren’t related to success, momentum and success? Interesting.

Yes i do BUT we are not filling the ground. Why increase it?? If we were selling out every week then increase it. How is that hard to understand ??

Imagine this is true, we refuse to expand a squad that was needed, but want to expand the stadium what isn’t needed. Would be very Sunderland.

If you get a grant to expand a stadium it has no bearing on the squad spend.

If you are an owner of a stadium and you get offered a free stadium expansion I’d imagine it would be pretty hard to say no unless it causes massive lasting overheads.

Not saying this is actually happening, mind.

We're not going to increase it ffs.
It's a load of f***ing bullshit, it's the "we can't fill it now" crap that is getting on my tits.

If we were half decent we could fill it like we have many times in the past, what do you suggest we do like rip down the f***ing premier concourse so it's full every game?

I’m not debating your other points to be fair. A successful Sunderland, 48k isn’t enough. Where we are is just about right, given we can get 45k against stoke. The point Binxy is making is similar. I don’t think anyone being deadly serious is for extending it.

But we can’t fill it now as it isn’t full and hasn’t been for years. If we could fill it next home game we would. The fact is people do t come and won’t come unless we are back in the premier league. I don’t see how saying we can’t fill our ground is wii ding you up, it’s a fact. We haven’t filled it once in years.

f***ing hell man I give up.

This thread has took a weird turn. I'm confused what you are all arguing about here. One is saying we can't fill the ground so having an extension doesn't make sense but other's are arguing about if (and big if mind) we had success we could sell it out.

It's like two different discussions that's got cross wired.

It will dilute the atmosphere even more and will never be used. Its incredible some think it is genuinely a good idea.

How will it dilute the atmosphere if you fill the lower bowl first? Of course it'll get used. If we go up I reckon we'll get over 50 thousand for mags, lpool, man u at least.
I guess those fluctuating crowds of the Roker Park era must have been f***ing shite and the Roker Roar was some shite made up by the older deluded folk. You can see how much the crowds fluctuated in the HIGHEST and LOWEST in this link below.

In (click season to see StatCat) after we won the FA Cup we had crowds as low as 8,142 yet the highest that season was 41,658. Or the season we got promoted in when the lowest was 19,456 and the highest 47,129. Even if you account for the midweek games being lower the Saturday game attendances were still varied.

I think this empty stadium thing affecting the atmosphere is more of a myth and more to do with the piss taking from other clubs that it brings. A lot of it pointless dick waving anyway given it doesn't factor in ticket prices, availability, how high the team has been in league in prior seasons, the current league position along with the current stuff being served up on the pitch.

The atmosphere can still be class but it's usually down to what's happening on the pitch as to what drives it. If the atmosphere alone made the team win games then we'd have won shit loads over the years and be walking all over teams when we play away. Ultimately it's down to the players on the pitch to get the results and the atmosphere is just amplified by the players performance, not because the ground is full. The hard core fans who choose to go through tougher times are more inclined to get vocal and support the team with chanting etc anyway and they can still make plenty of noise.

The ones going on about not being able to fill the ground are trying to have a dig at our support.

Junior S Tickets for next year are £48 and work out at £1.11 a game according to the latest e- mail I just got from SAFC!! 🙈

As good value as they are, they're not "that" cheap and I suspect someone will get a ticking off for not QAing that before clicking send.

Not sure it was a dig like, mind he did overstate half full but not sure it was intentional.

Having an empty upper tier would be horrendous. We only have one stand empty atm and the West Stand is soulless imo.

It would be a terrible idea hence why the smaller grounds have much better atmosphere in general usually. Not to mention it's not free maintenance wise to have seats doing absolutely nothing. MK Dons and Wigan are two prime stadiums which are way too big and they're by far two of the worst grounds in the country for atmosphere aswell and Wembley games in League One play off's etc where only the lower bowl is open is equally generally soulless.

It's not a myth. Also Roker Park was standing which is a whole different ball game altogether, 20k in Roker Park is very different to 20k in the SOL.
