Club are looking to extend the stadium

You were comparing loyalty, and you screwed it up, if you dont want to acknowledge that wasnt a fair barometer dont bother

I think their loyalty is shown to be better than ours, we are allowed to be criticised.......weve had some low low times without a doubt but im probalys in a minority here but a lot of our supporters pride ourselves on our support and so we should to a degree. However is it that great? is it that fantastic? Ive been there for 32 years now (I think) without a break as its the norm to me, you support your team through thick and thin etc. Not everybody has that inside them though..

Likewise the mags when they were dishing out their free tickets

I really dont care about them at all and just use them to compare against because thats our nearest rival and thats who we are always compared against if you work and live around them. My point this morning has been ambition - or lack of.

The mags have more fans than us. Their catchment area is enormous compared to ours, it goes as far north as Berwick and as west as Carlisle and as south to Darlo. That's why they get bigger crowds than us and probably always will.

Yeah strange to quote Chelsea as they always sell out. Also saw Leicester mentioned further up and they sell out too.
They sell out but if we charged similar prices to those and most Premier League clubs we'd not even get a 40,000 average. This is one major factor as to why talk of crowd sizes etc is just limp dick waving as it doesn't look at how much it costs to go watch it so you can't see how big the full hard on is

I don't think the extension will happen but if it did then aye it will mean that it could generate money other ways, which generates money for Sunderland also of course. We could fill a 63,000 stadium as they could simply drop the ticket prices to attract more and improve the fan experience so they'd spend more money that the usual ticket price.

Even now with 40,000 fan average the revenue is a small fraction of the revenue of being in the PL and finishing mid table. Clubs could let fans in for nowt these days but they don't and some clubs choose to fleece match day fans as they are limited by capacity so know they have a supply and demand they can take advantage of so have stupidly high ST prices. This is one huge positive about the SOL as it allows for crowd fluctuation and allows many fans they option of going to the games.

If the mags start regular CL footy etc then their fans need to be prepared for ticket price increases. They already have a higher pricing structure than ours with less discounted tickets for young 'uns/OAPs. If we charged the same then we'd see a few 1,000 less on our gates for sure. If the mags start regular CL footy etc then their fans need to be prepared for ticket price increases. Even Boro ST prices are higher than some of ours as it's £480 for the equivalent of our East/West stand and £590 for North/South stand upper and £550 for lower and they don't even sell out.

Hotel rooms, hotel rooms, hotel rooms. A 150,000 seater SOL wouldn’t get a CL final as there’s nowhere for uefas big nobs, sponsors and their customers to sleep.

I could hardly get one for brum at home never mind a champions league final. 😂 abysmal choice. My cousins decision to have an end of season ‘blow out’, he only lives in Blackhall!

How is their loyalty shown to be better than ours?

In the last 25 years they’ve been in Europe, Champions League, broke the world record transfer fee, and only been outside of the top flight for two seasons, where on both occasions they were immediately promoted.

Compare that to 15 and 19 point seasons, almost going bust, back to back relegations, no Europe, playing in the Football League trophy.

I think you’re taking the piss to be honest. Our support is outstanding. To say they are more loyal than us is astounding tbh.

Your entitled to your opinion and ive go mine - I havent called our support but I have compared it to Newcastle as what you have concluded to as taking the piss....how? There is no disputing that over the years from the SOL opening it has been erratic but when we get a glimmer of momentum the numbers stay high end thats a fact. Just when we are on our knees in the champo where was everyone? 27,000 average - yes the football and club was toxic but wheres the loyalty? I still go? thats what im on about...loyalty is shown though all times but some people dont - plain and simple

People have different reasons for not going and thats fine but there is always so many paople patting themselves on the back for 40000+ attendances in the second tier which is great but we must stop self congratulating ourselves for attending the games by clapping when the attendence gets read out, our support is good bordering on great but not outstanding

Look - This is about the here and now and we are on the up so we just need to look forward

This, since the ground was extended the highest we've finished is 10th.
We've been relegated 4 times (twice with record low points), (back to back relegations)
We often wouldn't win a game until October.
We once went a full year without a home win.
We've struggled in league one for 4 years.
Lost any decent players we've had and largely replaced them with lower league shite.
We're currently sitting in the dizzy heights of 11-12th in the championship.

Despite all of the above we are still averaging 38k and can draw crouds in excess of 40k.

Our grounds not to big for us, give us a successful SAFC and it would be to small.
Excellent points.
