Clarkson’s farm

He seemingly hasn’t learned anything in all these years. Getting a bit repetitive now. Cocks something up, buy a big piece of equipment, fixes the issue

This latest series hasn't landed with me at all. I know that the whole thing will be heavily scripted for entertainment value, but this one hasn't quite worked for me. It feels very false in a way that previous seasons didnt.

Its watchable, but feels like its run its course now.

It’s been a huge success and most people love it.

Of course you will always get the misery guts who would twist on 21.
I can't help it Jeff, soz! The only "gift" I have in life is an ability to see through frauds, it's a bit like a superpower & I genuinely can't control it. I can pick out words or missing words & know 100% the individual lives their life by deceit, obfuscation & barefaced lies. Drives my poor Mrs mad...

I just treat it as a bit of light entertainment. I don’t try to look any deeper to analyse or criticise.

Of course it’s rehearsed and scripted. That’s why it’s so good. Post production takes around a year so no doubt some things are reshot, and huge amount of time spent editing and polishing the final product.

Bottom line is that millions enjoy the adventures of the diddly squat crew.

James May also owns a pub. It's becoming the thing for celebs with money to burn. Probably a cunning tax dodge involved somewhere.

The two of them are so popular that people will go and they'll make money. It's a tourist attraction. I think we forget now how massive Top Gear was when they were on it, they did a bloody world tour.

I was talking to a couple in America last year who were ridiculously excited that I'd been to Diddly Squat.

Indeed - with pubs closing all over the country, one way for them to survive to have a celebrity owner and become a tourist attraction in their own right. Same with farm shops, they are everywhere, but people will drive halfway across the country to visit Clarkson's even though there's little chance of him being there.

Yeah but Lisa might be there

I suspect that the pub was only bought to create more 'issues'.

The pub sideline is a bit weak in my mind. Too much time spent with him looking at collapsed failed pubs that you wouldn't imagine in reality hed give time of day to. His enthusiasm for the shit pubs just wasnt believable.

Same as when he was trying to invent the thing for painting a white line. He tried too hard to make an event out of something that didnt warrant it.
Both felt like a bit of a pointless distraction from the actually interesting stuff on the farm.

Its light entertainment, its enjoyable but its struggling to keep up with the first two series, which were great because they felt believable. Even if they were just as scripted as the latest one
