I got the email below, someone said its a "merit" email and the next job of that grade should be mine, anyone know anything about this "Merit" thing?
"
This vacancy attracted a number of highly qualified applicants and after careful consideration of all of the applications we are sorry to tell you that you have not been selected for appointment.
However, as you were a strong candidate we would like to keep your name on a reserve list. This list will be valid for 12 months from the date of this correspondence and if another vacancy arises for the same position we will contact you.
This email does not constitute a job offer.
Thank you for your interest in this position."
Aye mate, I'm on 2. Haven't heard nothing from either of them since I received the email months and months ago
Oh well, thats a bit shit
It could still happen
How do you find the competency question at interview process? I find it highly f***ing inconsistent if I am honest . Can give the same answers at two different interviews for the same level job and score differently.
Are we talking the marvellous world of competency based interviews here?
I have input the same data for similar jobs, not got interviews and got interviews, no idea why, I should at least get face to face feedback on the interview as I actually work at the place of the interview and know the people involved.

You really want to work for the civil service? It's f***ing shite.
Anyway you stood no chance, your not a woman and you have no disability
Yes mate the competency based interviews. I am on a reserve list for DWP at an AO level job, came out thinking the interview was terrible and I had no chance. I recently went to an EO level interview at Washington for HMRC, came out confident as I have ever been and scored miserably, 2s&3s
Can you remember who interviewed you ?
I can't remember the names, no. I would recognise the faces though. Why?
People were all being roped in to do some interviewing recently....
Unusual that people being appointed to Washington as it’s a transitional site....strong message coming out is that WVP is full and they’re trying to create room to accommodate people possibly arriving from closing offices( who can’t or won’t go to BPV)
You must work in the civil service?
I was completely shocked that I failed the interview tbh. Then again, I prefer interviews where you can build a bit of rapport, doesn't seem like you get the chance with the civil service.[/QUO
Unless you are already in the organisation I think competency based interviews are very cold and unfriendly

Guessing it depends who the interviewers are ......colleagues doing the recent HO and O sifts are generally quite good at trying to establish rapport and getting candidate to relax.
Many are just stepping in to help out and not from a natural HR background , not that that’s any consolation to interviewee mind
I know the roles involved, no headphones, I have 20 years of experience in customer service, 15 as a manager, headphones are a f***ing pain, but not the end of the world
Mate, the training is crap it’s all about number crunching and the quality of cases you deal with on your training (all live cases by the way) don’t matter. Live cases being done by trainees with little checking. Numbers numbers numbers ad nauseum.
It’s not a career it’s a sentence.
