Cirkin issues

Was speaking to one of the groundsmen on the train back home on Sunday. They were all invited to the afterparty with the players/first-team staff.

He was saying Cirkin is the coolest bloke he's ever met. Quiet, and completely chill about anything and everything whilst looking cool as fuck.

I have a slight feeling that we might be looking in to things a bit too much. It could just be his personality.
Yep, I think he’s just naturally laid back.

When you have a squad with bag characters such as O’Nien, Isidor & Mayenda etc - those who are chilled might look like they’re sick of it when they actually aren’t.

We seem to have 2 schools of thought, and actually I'd say they're (to a degree) both correct.

1. We'll keep lots of our players, they can step up/deserve the chance
2. We need lots of new players, current squad not good enough

Both of those are probably correct. This is a young side that has grown (and will continue to grow) and will improve. We've got a great team spirit and the core of the side deserves the opportunity to be part of a PL Sunderland squad. Some of these lads have been with us since League 1.

We also know we will need to improve the squad. Being realistic, there's an absolute boat load of players on the fringes who will need to leave, either on loan or permanent.

Pembele, Ba, Rusyn, Bishop, Anderson, Poveda, Browne, Hemir, Aouchiche, Matete, Ekwah, Blondy will all go permanently if think. Watson has gone, Jobe might go, Mepham may go back.

Then you have decisions to make over the PL use of the likes of Triantis, Huggins, Alese, Seelt, Aleksic, Abdullahi this season, or whether they might need a loan and regular football first? Matty Young will go out on loan again, and Simon Moore maybe replaced as no 2, potentially.

What you're left with is:

GK: Patterson
DF: Hume, Onien, Ballard, Cirkin
MF: Neil, Rigg, Enzo
FW: Roberts, Mundle, Mayenda, Isidor

Those are nailed on squad members next season, for me. Lots of decisions to be made over players, but we'll need to add possibly 4 or 5 players who are first team standard, who can go straight into starting 11. I do think the likes of Huggins and Alese are good squad members, my issue would be how fit/rusty are, and do they need a loan until Xmas.

I'm not talking about signing experienced PL players, because we won't be doing that really (we might sign the odd one). I'm talking about more young players who we can improve. But instead of them costing 500k-2m, they'll be higher up the ladder and cost maybe 6-10m each.

Good post.

Moore seems to have a good relationship with all the squad, and that decent run of form when he was called upon has probably given the fans some trust in him to step in. I'd be slightly surprised if he was replaced as the number 2.

Reminds me of me.😎

He was never quite right after he came back from injury. Really strange. He looked to me like he was holding back, like he was nursing a hamstring problem and was scared to really go flat out.

Hopefully an extended rest and a good preseason and we will see the player we thought he was going to develop into. He’s a good lad.

We found out Roberts had a calf injury, rumour has it Isidor is nursing an injury and going under the knife soon, some of our players like Cirkin need a good rest imo.

if neil stayed on the pitch we wouldn’t be in the premier league now simple as that a hope he gets
sold in the summer

If Hammar had stayed on the pitch fit we wouldn’t
If we didn’t have VAR we wouldn’t
If Patto hadn’t pulled out two wonder saves we wouldn’t
If Roberts had not come on we wouldn’t
If Mundle hadn’t stayed on we wouldn’t
If What his face their striker hadn’t passed to Watson we wouldn’t etc etc etc

Yet substituting Dan Neil, voted the player of the season by this very board for what he did over an entire season to get us promoted, is the only reason we got promoted
Truly pathetic post
