It’s my eldest son’s birthday too, so we usually go for a meal then to see a movie. We will be doing this today, although my son is out on the drink with his mates rather than come to the pictures.

Our lass goes to the crematorium to leave flowers in memory of her mam. Her actual memory is only 5 days earlier so it’s always baffled me why, but never asked as I do t want to sound insensitive.
We take the kids bowling (4 and 8 y/o).
Then I make fish and chips. It’s our British take on her Czech grandmas tradition of carp. Only one of two times the deep fat fryer comes out in a year.
Then we open a Christmas Eve box, kids get a book and some sweets etc.
Then prep for the next day.

I tried to give the Christmas tree a bear hug one year with disastrous results.
Add sage to the above and it is "Season Pudding", an old recipe, passed down through the family, that I don't know that anyone else makes.
