Chris Rigg

I’ve never been too damning of him when he has a bad game because he’s just a kid and never gives any less than everything but I did think this season was too soon for him and a loan would have helped. Massively chuffed to be wrong, he was my MoM last week and only a sensational performance from Brobbey means he wasn’t today.

He had a very good game today . For an 18 year old local lad playing in a derby (is he still a Mag? ) and knowing what it means to both sets of fan he looked totally unphased and put in a highly professional performance.

He's only 18 but has been outstanding last season. Big step up but he's stood up when asked. Apart from Brentford away he's done OK when he has played.

He wasn't outstanding last season at all. That's absolutely bullshit. Let's be realistic.

He started really well, had some quality moments and then became a quite average cog doing a lot of donkey work but having no real impact in many games. His statistical impact was shite.

There was a couple of games here and there after the turn of the year he actually done well in. Millwall, Coventry play off late on at home etc.

He started this season miles off it. Played ok against Villa and then done well last week and very well today. He's had some very poor appearances as well.

He's 18, he needs time, games and patience. Buts let's stop with the "he's excellent' ' he's crap' 'generational talent' nonsense. He's an 18 year old kid making gradual progress.

And people on here wanted him to loan him out
Never doubted his ability but was starting to think that a loan next season would be the best thing for him as he had looked pretty short of confidence this season. Was one of the few bright spots against Brighton though and his performance today will be the making of him as a Premier League player.

I admit that I was one of them, thinking we had enough class in Midfield to let him out on loan. Truth is that he's about on par with Diarra in ability and has the energy to burn; engine room stuff.
We were all over them in the last 15 minutes and its down to the energy on the pitch, including the subs that forced the winner. RLB can be frustrating sometimes, but wow, he always plays an absolute tactical blinder when it really matters.

He did alright considering his age and size. Nobody's disputing that he has a good touch and can play.

It's obvious that his natural position is like a Bryan Robson: playing around the middle of the pitch, dictating the game with brute force more than anything else, good engine and can get around the pitch including box to box, loves a tackle.

He's not gonna get picked to do that here, at the moment. Best thing that can happen to the lad is loan him out to a competitive league where he gets to play in his natural position week in week out. He would develop a lot quicker in that scenario.

Don't talk daft.

He's here to stay and improve and compete with others for a spot.
