Chris Rigg

I’m a realist 😎

Glad you’re well Marra

I’m not disagreeing I just don’t think we’ll get the figures handed about on here.

If we do sell him i hope I’m wrong and we make a fortune but I’ll be very surprised tbh but we’ll see come the time

Hopefully he commits to a new deal throughout the season

Ha fair play. Nice to get carried away sometimes

Comparing him to Bellingham at this stage is pointless.

But theres no doubt in my mind this kid is going to the top, if not the top top, then a top 4 CL quality player.

If he has half the season i think hes about to have then he will be off next year. Our only real chance of keeping him will be if we get promoted but even then i could see him leaving. Not nice to think about but ultimately leads us to talk about money and i think it should be a big money sale..£50m plus and a sell on % for me.

I don't know whether the comparisons with Rooney and Jude are fair, but they are similar in the sense that Rigg's ability is obvious. He's come into the team and you could reasonably argue he's our best player already, that's not normal for someone who has just turned 17.

With Rigg it's important if he's sold that we get a fuckton for him, but I don't really care about that. I just want to enjoy him while he's here and hope he stays for years.

Those comparisons are not fair as they were doing more at a younger age but they were also physically ready a lot earlier, so it's remarkable that Rigg has been able to feature as much as he has when he's still got growing to do.

He reminds me of the level of Wayne Rooney was at when he broke through at 16 at Everton

He could be that good which is like a generational one off thing. Clubs will be circling now.

Whether he’s here or elsewhere just hope to see him fulfil the potential and see how far he can go.

I don’t think people understand how f***ing young he is and how comfortable he looks playing against fully grown blokes.

Luckily he’s hard as fuck. You’d simply have to be at 16/17 to compete with adults physically
Rooney!?

Do you have any memory of Rooney at 16/17 when he broke through? He was one of the best ever for his age, already looked like a top PL league player.

Rigg looks fantastic and I've loved seeing him develop this season but this type of comparison is unhelpful and slightly ridiculous tbh.

Different position and much smaller frame but the skill and ability is there to see.
Fair play Rooney was a one off and was doing it in the premier league. Why not get carried away though man, it’s not every day we get a talent like this coming through

Yep

We are in the champ

People forget that

It’s miles off that

Why can’t he be compared to Jude? Same age at breakthrough, very similar stats at this stage of their careers and supposedly courted by the exact same clubs.

The exciting thing is there’s much more to come from him. feel like we haven’t seen anything yet!

I’m not sure that’s true. At this age, Bellingham was playing a full season for Dortmund. The year before he got 40+ apps for Birmingham.

I’d say comparatively Rigg is a year behind. That would mean he makes a “big” move next summer

This has already been rubbished on this same thread man 😂.

At this stage of his career, Jude had already completed a full season, had his shirt retired at brum, and was playing in the champions league.

Rigg is at least a year behind Jude, so yes it’s premature.

had his shirt retired at brum 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Your arguing about the sake of 9 months or whatever, Rigg is on course to match Bellingham’s first 40 championship games, albeit 9 month later if you want to be pedantic about it. The exact same clubs are not interested and there’s every chance he will be playing champions league football next season. His current career trajectory couldn’t be any similar to Jude’s really, apart from your very important 9 month.
