Chris Froome

Failed a drugs test at the Vuelta apparently. Test results were double the limit for salbutamol after his doctor advised uping his asthma treatment. UCI have asked him and sky for more details. Lets hope it is genuine and not heading down the Armstrong route.

Edit, not again before someone says it

“@friebos: Sky say Froome's salbutamol concentration was 2000ng/ml.

Diego Ulissi got a nine-month ban for 1920ng/ml in 2014.

Petacchi got a year for
1320ng/ml in 2007.

BUT Leonardo Piepoli got no ban for levels reportedly similar to Petacchi's in 2007.”

Could be the final nail in the coffin for Sky after jiffygate

It won't look good for them given past incidents

It’s not really a small slip being twice the limit is it?
Could be something as easily explained as dehydration leading to concentrated levels in the sample tested. It was a 200km stage in 38 degrees over mountainous terrain. The subsequent investigations should be able to shed more light on it. We just need to wait for the final outcomes.

It could, for someone who has been tested as often as he has more than likely in very similar circumstances to test more than double what he has tested before is not a smallest of slips, that's not to say it isn't explainable.

Hang on. Is Salbutemol performance enhancing? If not why does anyone care?

It's like me having three paracetamol instead of two and running a 5k.

suggestions that it may be a masking agent, though this has been disputed.
Very odd, as race leader he knew he'd be 100% tested and clearly Salbutemol would show up

Bit of a witch hunt going on with Team Sky, we are talking about use of an asthma inhaler by an asthma sufferer not some industrial scale blood doping programme.
