I take your points, but - to be accurate - he wasn't found innocent, he was found not guilty. In other words the jury weren't 100% sure he was guilty. That's not the same as saying he was innocent.

His original conviction was found to be unsound and he was found innocent in the retrial. A jury can only return 'guilty' or 'not guilty'. You are basically advocating for everyone accused of a crime to be treated as less than innocent when they are found to be innocent of a crime. It is as if you are saying "Well we didn't get him, but we can still shun him".
 
For what it's worth, he wasn't found innocent, he was found not guilty. Not the same thing. He's a complete shithouse of a person even if you ignore this incident, along with a League 1 plodder.

Innocent unreal proven guilty, eventually found not guilty, therefor innocent, bedrock of English law I am afraid
