Charlie Methven

They meant well and it ultimately turned out to be for both them and us.

I like Plymouth, lots of potential there.
They simply meant to flip us for a profit after a quick return to the championship.

Let’s not also forget Methvens “words” on the fans, the patronising nature of the bloke and Donald’s lie about his daughter being kidnapped.

They weren’t “decent”. They were out of their depth, panicked and lied and gaslit. One was a bumbling prick, the other a patronising one

Agree on Plymouth mind, a lot of time for the club. Had a class night out there back in the Keane days

Smug slimy little public school chancer
All accurate except for little. He's over 6 foot tall and he's got one of the biggest swedes I've ever seen in person. A proper whopper napper.
The biggest twat to ever darken the doors of our club.

I genuinely wouldnt even wish him on the mags.

Terrible news for Plymouth.
His mate was worse. I'd also put Moyes and Byrne ahead of him for worst damage done to the club in my lifetime. He is canny obnoxious though, which makes him seem worse.

I like Plymouth. They're so isolated in the South West and yet their support is imo the best of the current EFL.

I really hope he doesn't go there. Every club he's been at the fans have rightfully hated him and celebrated him leaving, and it wouldn't take much for the average Argyle fan to see this. Sunderland, Charlton, even f***ing Oxford (where he worked at a fanzine iirc).

The ****.

Aye you didnt mean we did.
Its will happen to Argyle didnt happen to us.
Cant mind the club shop selling any kind of pink chinos like, were they any good?

The model didnt come with KS and co.
We have always done that

didnt say it had - I said they were running the same model as we are now. Its nothing new and people use them as a stick to beat them with when there are plenty which are actually specifically attributable

I don't think Donald was worse, personally.

You can certainly say others have damaged the club more, but I am talking about the biggest twats, not most damage. So yeah, your last comment nails it.

This.

I think him and Donald get a lot of unfair criticism.

Running Sunderland and Plymouth are just totally different propositions. He’s probably good with clubs that level. Sunderland needed bigger and better. It has it now.

That doesn't make any sense. Plymouth could be playing at a higher level next season than what we were at when Methven was here.

Totally different. Sunderland in L1 brings a pressure Plymouth Argyle or Charlton can never match even in the Championship. The sheer size of Sunderland in terms of infrastructure, finances, fan base, expectation and the meaning it has to the region cannot be replicated there.

Am agreeing with you man.
Some think the model came with KS but we have always developed and sold on.
Since I started watching in the 60s that is.
