Champions Trophy 2025

Not at all. We let the game get away from us by not keeping the rate down and not taking wickets. Root might have helped us do that but he was taken off for an injured player! Comical captaincy again.
Again all about opinions but the score was bigger because of bowlers either not good enough or had a bad day in the death overs.

I can’t really get on board with the notion with respect that bowling Root more could have made the difference and stopped that happening

Hard to really assess this current 50 over side, it does feel like they are in need of a bit of refresh but I am also conscious that they are playing in the sub-continent and I think the coach needs to be working on their weaknesses more rather than trying to get on the golf course.

Salt needs dropping and I think pairing Crawley with Duckett is worth a shout given their strong relationship in test cricket. Although Crawley is hugely inconsistent and out of form, I do think he is mostly suited to 50 over opening.

Smith shouldn't be 3, Root should be 3 with everyone underneath moving up a spot and either Smith at 7 but ideally an all-rounder as IMO, we have gone into these 2 games a bowler light and relying on Root and Livingstone to bowl 10.

Archer doesn't look the same bowler, Wood should probably just focus on tests and T20's and Overton isn't good enough.

You simply cannot take a bowler out of the attack who is doing a good job. Rashid was going for nearly 6 and was taken out of the attack.

Lack of runs builds pressure, pressure leads to wickets and it stems the flow of runs.

Taking Root off for an injured Wood who was then pummeled because he'd dropped pace was ridiculous. Root might have suddenly started getting whacked, then you take him off but only then.

Livingstone/Root as the fifth bowler is only something you can carry if you've got 4 world class bowlers.

Wood doesn't take enough wickets
Rashid isn't at the peak of his powers
Archer still on a transition back to form
Overton picked as lower order hitter who can bowl a bit.

Willey, Woakes and Topley are all better at this format. I also don't understand why Mahmood is on the bench too.

The captain and selectors want people who can smash the ball really hard and bowl fast. Rather than any real skill at either thing.
Class post.

Salt is poorer version of Roy reminds me of Ali Brown of years ago.

Brook has done nothing in Odis we bat smith at 3 despite the fact never batted higher than 5 for Surrey.

Everything about the current side is unbalanced ally that to poor captaincy and team selection you get the current level of performance.

It’s the complete opposite of when Morgan lead the side very well drilled and everyone knowing their roll and skills well executed.

… and just when we thought things were going well. Good appeal but the original decision was poor.

Hope we lose. It’s what this pathetic team deserve.
Brook. Utter clown. Best batter in the world apparently.
