Yeah the oil is to lubricate the chain, if it isn't using much the galleries are possibly blocked.

Are you sure you are holding it by the handle not the chain ?

Check the tension, after a bit of use chains stretch slightly and will slip if not re-tensioned. grab the chain in the middle of the blade, you should be only be able to pull it away a few mill and it should snap back. I had the same thing with mine, tightened it up and was back in business.

Should it be running when you do this?

Bought FPCSP52 Petrol Chainsaw | DIY at B&Q from B&Q when my Ryobi chainsaw died a death. Plastic is all a bit cheap and nasty but it's cut down 5 trees now, this years supply of logs and still works.

A replacement Oregon bar and chain would set you back £38 so it's impressive value at £60
