Good luck Kent for no other reason than Mitch Claydon

I talk about cricket love how people have a go at me yet say nothing to others, ha way do you expect me just ignore sly digs or someone that several times likes to question how often I go when they are clueless on the matter
If i'm clueless on the matter in terms of your attendance record and how many times you have seen Steel live then why do you have such great difficult answering the question?

As you say these early starts in September always help the bowlers - you only have to go back to the heyday of 70s/80s Gillette/Nat West one-day finals and the team bowling first always had an edge.

The Kent result should take care of itself, barring an absolute batting collapse and with Durham getting a result, with a 20pt lead, we should be promoted.

We've been close these past few seasons and after finally getting out finances sorted out (staging concerts at the St Lawrence and losing hundreds of thousands of pounds in doing so) and having a team made mainly of young, local players and one great overseas acquisition, promotion seems finally to have been achieved.

Matt Henry and his 60+ wickets have been a godsend.
As long as the weather is good to you tomorrow

Dodgy rumour alert today which i laughed at but will share............. Mark Stoneman is homesick/family want to return home...........

a rumour regarding rikki wessels was put to jon lewis by marty which was pretty much shot down and the suggestion made our recruiting had been done and concluded. i'm sure we'd love to add more but can't see it

On Stoneman, I wouldn’t be surprised in fairness, but I’d think he’d be more likely to end up elsewhere in the North (such as Yorkshire). As mad as it may sound, I’m not sure we can fit him in.

ok i'll bite. stoneman, lees, bancroft, steel [in any order] would be the best top 4 in div 2 next year i'd assume, not sure why on earth we couldn't fit him in - given our weakness in the middle order would be an excellent addition

I don't have difficulty because whatever I say you will think of some way of disgarding my opinion

Not the Wessels rumour, is it 2016 again?!

As for the Stoneman issue, I don’t doubt that would be an unreal Top 4, but they’re all openers (Steel I reckon will go 3 next year with Bancroft and Lees opening mind), which opener would happily move down the order? It seems like a bad fit.

The bigger issue for me though is with the moves we’ve already made - I’m not sure financially we’d be able to accommodate Stoneman. Can’t imagine him playing for peanuts.

Tim Bostock said last night they were £60,000 from their wage cap limit. Both him and Lewis said there were no more signing and they were happy with the additions to the squad.

Glorious morning for batting, hopefully their lot opened their curtains and immediately felt beaten

Playing devils advocate regarding the Stoneman rumours - I’m sure if such a player came available they could be flexible on the ‘no more signings’ line.

£60k seems quite a lot of wriggle room too IMO.

Positive signs.

Not a good start with Patel going cheap, before i got the stream up and running

Patel throws his wicket away third ball trying to launch Briggs over mid on. Unfortunately it was a top edge which went straight to Wiese. He made 14. Daft shot. 221-5 and lead by 202.

Starting to think we may need closer to 350 here

All of a sudden it seems like a featherbed. Mind fourth innings on a Day Four Pitch should still be tricky for them. The more runs the better, time certainly is on our side.

We’ve got a lead of 272 now, so really a lead of 350 should be very getable.

yeah seems to be getting better. Mind, if we can get rushy firing again we could already be in a strong position. But i'd like to see at least a 350 lead. Plenty time in the game yet too
