CC : Yorkshire vs Durham

YCCC blog. Tattersall and Campbell saying they might try to set up a result tomorrow. Unless it’s 100m breast stroke, can’t see it somehow.

I'm surprised at this.

We should just plod on for the draw. We're happy with this if it gets us the 2nd Div title.

Yorkshire can get stuffed.

Shame but I still feel that Durham are ok with weather affecting others in this round
To be honest I don't know why anyone is even remotely worried. We have most probably already done enough to gaurantee promotion.

Be nice to get some batting bonus points tomorrow but if it doesn't happen there is nowt we can do about it it probably wont matter anyway.

Natural in built doubt with SAFC and Durham

I agree though it’s unlikely to stop us playing top division cricket next season

Not taking as much notice of the county game these days, I had a look at the table earlier and was pleasantly surprised how well Durham are doing. Really can't see them blowing that sort of lead but cricket is a funny game as they say
As long as the ECB don't have another trick up their sleeves of course

Re a contrived result tomorrow, it would need to take into account the weather obviously but I assume we would be looking at us declaring first thing and Yorkshire then batting to get to a set lead and declaring. If we accept it and the game ends up getting rained off we go home with 8 points and if we bat on and get rained off before we can get to 250 then we still go home with 8 points.

It would be more entertaining for the spectators but do we really need to risk the batting points we can get for the possibility of the extra 11 points if we win? A win would get us 19 points while a draw and 450 runs gets us 13 anyway. Clearly we may not get to 450 in time due to either weather or losing wickets. If we take the offer then we also risk coming home with just 3 points from the game.

We probably have enough in the bank to risk it and 19 points would probably win us the league. On the other side, there is the risk of Yorkshire getting the win, but they could only take 18 points under this scenario.

You’ve cleared it all up :D I’m with you on this

one thing when are Yorkshire getting their points deduction as Durhams was pretty instant but I’ve seen no evidence of Yorkshire having been punished to date

To be fair, I had forgotten about the points deduction and that takes Yorkshire out of the equation as a promotion rival anyway, so what they get would be irrelevant to us even if they win and that makes me more in favour of going for it.

Might as well have a go. im pretty confident that we will get the win elsewhere , after the hundred is out of the way

Be amazed if a ball is bowled tomorrow. The pitch was like a swimming pool just after 5pm today. I just don't see how they gets dried out

That’s the bottom of the road we’re staying on. Got caught in this. It was horrendous.

I can’t see any hope of play tomorrow. The outfield is already damp (walked on it at tea yesterday).

Yes I'm wondering about this too.

I hope the ECB aren't just going to delay this until everyone forgets about it (like Surrey not bothering to turn up for that game against us).

It's too serious to ignore. Realistically they should have a big points deduction for two seasons like us so that they can't win promotion next year either.
