So now it's 10 played and 4 to go and Durham now lie a massive 54 points ahead of second place Sussex and a further 2 points ahead of Leics and Worcs - I imagine if they get any play tomorrow then Glamorgan will do well to take 13 pts from their game at Cheltenham.

Our 'nearest and dearest' lie in sixth place with one win , six draws and two defeats - one of which of course was at the hands of us at the Riverside back in May when, thanks to the batting heroics of Raine and Potts, we gained our tightest win of the season by one wicket.

We are of course due to learn this month if the CDC has confirmed the recommended red ball punishment of a deduction of between 48 -72 points for this season..hmmm.

The weather is unsurprisingly iffy to say the least and Friday seems to be the best day if you believe what the forecasters tell us. But let's hope that all the Durham supporters making the trip down to Scarbados have a safe journey and see a game as good as our legendary 2013 victory there.:D

Haway The Lads - let's do the double over them and make promotion a certainty!!

Yorkshire seem to have improved in recent weeks and this will be a tough away game. Wouldn’t be too disappointed with a draw tbh, keep us ticking over on the way to what looks like an inevitable promotion.

Interested to hear what people reckon of our chances in the First Division next season? Obviously it will always be difficult to compete with the likes of Surrey but I think in Alex Lees we have as good an opener as anyone in t he country and I honestly think our fully fit bowling attack will trouble any team.

Yea I agree, the bowling looks very capable but who can say either through injury or call-ups what kind line up will be available.

Overall, I'd be pretty confident as this Durham team is outstanding in the current division and it's strongest in the division in all departments.

I'd imagine Potts/Carse could well be involved in England next year, a fair bit. Hopefully one or 2 of the younger players can produce something if they get an opportunity this year and kick on next

Not so sure I totally agree with that. Given our points lead certainly don't think we should risk defeat in going for a win

.Carse in particular might well be involved in ODIs at end of this season.
Certainly the youngsters will get an opportunity b the RL50. Mcalinden and Gibson haven't progressed this season as has been hoped.

I like your last sentence because that's something I hope happens too, yet, what we've seen from this year is that they're not ready now and maybe need another year or two. I know whed likes Bushnell, but he seemed underwhelming to me.
Having said that, it is possible a young'un can suddenly 'get it' and become pretty good, so fingers crossed.

Ironically it's more batters ready to step up now than bowlers, but its bowlers we need.

The move to a more run heavy wicket at CLS seems to have had the desired impact, a decent spinner may take a while longer to develop but yeah we havent seen macalindon, kileen, Gibson etc kick on like we'd hoped
