CC : Worcesrershire vs Durham

As revealed by The Times, the controversial 100-ball tournament could be entirely scrapped and replaced with a county-based competition, played in a football league-style pyramid, as ECB officials grapple with the long-term future of the Hundred and the increasing pressure on budgets.
The ECB will present county chiefs with a number of options for the direction of the men’s competition next month, which include: keeping the Hundred as it is with the eight existing teams; increasing it to a ten-team tournament to include a team based around Taunton/Bristol and a team based in Durham; or getting rid of the eight existing teams and replacing them with county-based teams in a larger competition to be played in a league system, with promotion and relegation.
If they wanted to scrap the Nonsense, then 12 counties would have to vote to get rid of it. Even if moneybags Surrey voted to get rid of it, the other 7 counties with franchises almost certainly wouldn't, so the idea of the 39 team pyramid is probably a non-starter anyway, as is every other gimmick associated with it.

Even if another franchise county could to be persuaded to scrap it, both Somerset and Durham would back it, so the Nonsense would stay anyway. It appears that Botham and Bostock are mad keen to get a franchise based here.... not just quite keen, or keen, they are 'prepared to trample over small children', gut bustingly mad for it keen

And if I understand it correctly, before any vote could take place, Sky would have to be prepared to allow it in the first place... allow it, for crying out loud, which would almost certainly only happen if the ECB threw yet more money away as an incentive (there's a pattern here, isn't there). Just to underline the point, the ECB would have to get the permission of a broadcaster (or wait 6 years until 2029) to change the structure of domestic cricket in England... which probably says everything that anyone needs to know about how the guardians of the game have gone about their business in the last 15 years or so. It's appalling the mess that they've made and the money that they've thrown away making it

Tea will be taken at 3:10pm & we will get back underway at 3:30pm with 44.2 overs remaining in the day.

Leicestershire finally all out for a lead of 78.

I think these umpires have bets on Worcestershire to be promoted…

Apart from that, our bowling since the rain break has been abysmal.

That one is OUT, umpire gutted.
I'm confused as to what their game plan is here.

They don’t have one. Turgid cricket.
On a more positive note for us, if we bowl them out for under 400 we’re champions. They’re currently 252-5 with Hose unlikely to bat.
