CC :: Warwickshire v Durham

Lunch to be taken at 12:30. Covers now being taken off. Standing water in the outfield but draining away rapidly.

These super blotters are marvellous, but I fear it will rain again soon after they’ve finished. Is it just my tv or do those groundsmen all have a white glow around them as if they’re an advert for Ready Brek?

The blotters working overtime, being emptied for the 6th time now as I type. The square is still sheeted and air is being blown under the sheeting while the ground staff brush the water off. Never seen that done before, But what do I know.

Met office forecast is for the weather to be dry from around 1pm until 3pm. Then more rain, light rain followed by sunshine and showers. Hopefully get to see some play.
Sun was shining for a few minute. Clouds have thickened up again and look threatening. Umpires have been out next inspection 2pm. Bowlers run ups being covered again.
winds got up and it’s absolutely pissing down.

Frustrating for all involved today. On the team, pleased to see Dickson involved, he has done well and Burnham rightly dropped.

Important part of the season coming up these next 10-14 days.

You say that, but Burnham’s average wasn’t the worst amongst our regular starting batsmen. Nor am I sure about rewarding someone with a red ball start based on T20 performances.

We’ll see.

Unfortunately the batter with the worst average is the captain. 🤣

He scored about ten runs in his last three CC games, but had enough credit in the bank for me. He was looking good this season until that game at Derby.

Burnham scored a ton three innings ago. His average is a tick under 30 which I think is quite acceptable for a number 6 batsman in our lineup.

Totally get that point 100% I just feel Burnham hasn't kicked on, I can't pin point it though. Dickson has done well in the T20 but as you say it's a different format which as you know I'm not too fond out but he did look confident. Just something I can't quite pin point about Burnham being dropped which I feel is justified........... I know @viccarlton will hope Burnham returns next week though at home

Jack Burnham is an enigma, he’s had more chances than he deserves and his record is abysmal, the odd good innings every ten games (I’m being generous there) is just not good enough.
For my money he’ll be released next season.
