Not sure ‘hate’ is the right word. We are looking to improve the coaching set up at Durham. So far as I’m aware, he has zero experience of coaching at our level of cricket. He’s been out of the game for nearly 10 years. Not sure what he can contribute?

I don’t disagree, but after the worst season in recent memory (and by some distance), and having tried an inexperienced man in Franklin who was clearly out of his depth, I think that the vast majority of supporters would be concerned and disappointed if SH was employed in any senior coaching role.

Crikey, that’s ridiculous if true. Given his performances when he has been played, why would they be against giving him a pro deal? If the finances are so bad that we simply can’t afford to, then we are in a bigger hole than I thought.
Marty mentioned on commentary that he hurt his hand in the last Test - which atleast explains his absence in a more ‘acceptable’ manner for us.
Mind you, I’ve read that FTECB want Leach to rest this week so he isn’t playing for Somerset in a crucial match as they seek to avoid relegation but as you’ve said, Surrey have the luxury of two of their England men.

He was coaching Yorkshire earlier on in the season as part of their ‘reset’. They also had Martin Speight doing a bit of batting coaching.
As mentioned above, it could merely be a two game gig plugging a hole while Killer steps up. It’s probably worked out nicely for both parties given he’s on the doorstep and available.

It’ll remain to be seen ultimately, but at one time Harmy was the best bowler in the world. What’s more, he’ll have been in dressing rooms and on training grounds with some of the finest cricketing minds of the last twenty years - so it isn’t ridiculous to think that he might have picked up a few things and can add something that’ll be of assistance to our lads…

so how does the rookie vs pro contract thing work? I'd imagine at some point Bushnell will play red ball cricket or is it a case of if he starts the season as a rookie, he remains a rookie for the rest of the year and a red ball game wouldn't trigger a contract upgrade until the end of the year?

Certainly think Bushnell should have been selected for these past few games but I find your claim regarding breaking the threshold surprising. Are you stating that as fact are you WUM? He's only played 3 CC games and 2 T20.
