Didn't know the first bit, but hardly surprising given the circus of the club. The 2nd part I totally agree with you.
 
How come Pope and Foakes can play for Surrey but Lees is still unavailable for Durham? Makes no sense for him not to try getting back into the runs

To judge from earlier comments, the financial incentive is being able to keep JB on a 'rookie contract'
