CC :: Durham v Nottinghamshire

Lots of interesting cricket today but have to say I'm getting rather concerned with our bowling attack.
Called this two weeks ago and was dismissed as a moaning minnie.

It's like going to your toolkit and finding nowt but screwdrivers and the odd spanner you don't like using, when you need to bang a nail in.

We've always had one of the most one dimensional attacks in the CC but got away with it because we played half our matches on a spicy CLS wicket in Spring and Autumn. Now even our home wicket is a bit more varied and we don't have a master craftsman like Colly as captain who could knock the metaphorical nails in with his shoe. We need a left arm seamer, a genuine quick and spinners we trust to bowl. We also need proper tailored strategies for opposition batsmen but all you see is "let's try X from the other end". The captain doesn't necessarily deserve to be picked on his current batting and bowling form, he's fortunate there's nobody else who wants the job (if it was just a case of shouting "haway lads, one big over" then Raine would be an outstanding candidate).

Then taken immediately off and not given a good crack at the new batsman....

I love seeing kids given a chance, but putting Ollie Gibson in against the best team in the league when Salisbury was fit and we're missing some key bowlers is bizarre. He got wrapped in cotton wool a bit against Leicestershire, just got his first over against Notts and got hoyked for 11 runs.
