CC : Durham v Kent

All over for another year.
Not that it mattered but Kent declared once reaching 350 to claim a 3rd batting point thus denying Durham 10 overs to claim a 3rd bowling point . Is there some sort of penalty for this scenario happening 🤔 Could be an important factor for all clubs throughout a full season.

Presumably the 2 teams agreed.4.20pm being the earliest time for close of play.
Bowling Bedders and Robinson doesn’t suggest we had an extra bowling point in mind.

But the lack of clinical cricket to the end has meant the bottom side has gained more points from the game. Unimportant at the end of September but it could be important over a season

Fifth place then. A respectable return to Division One by us.

Plenty of factors that stopped us really getting much more points

My review of the season

Hampshire (H) zero play, begining of April what do the ECB expect.

Warks (A) Appalling wicket. Draw 100/100 times

Worcs (A) great win

Essex (H) draw fair result rain impacted game

Hampshire (A) same as Warks

Lancs (A) an annoying loss. A bad toss decision and bowling effort. Should have chased down a mammoth score but lost the plot.

Somerset (H) Superb win. Stokes amazing

Essex (A) draw as they didn't they didn't even try to win

Worcs (H) a loss after 23 wickets one day what the fuck were we thinking with the pitch lottery

Notts (H) great win arguably performance of the season

Somerset (A) loss after shafted by umpires

Lancs (H) record breaking win

Surrey (A) lost with a very inexperienced attack. A let down with the bat. Room for improvement next time.

Kent (H) playing in autumn fuck the ECB

Bit of a Brian Rix farce at the end with Robinson and Bedders bowling
To be honest it’s been a bit of an anticlimax. this game with the paucity of our bowling attack and them being already down .
It’s been “ cold” and a turkey of a game with the only enjoyment for me as a Durham fan was the enjoyable quick bish bash by Bedders
Will consign this game to the history of forgettable events

Campbell's postmatch comment regarding next season's attack interesting. Clearly Hogg, L Robinson and Minto regarded as 1st team. No mention of McAlinden and Killeen infers confirmation that they've gone. Adds that "we'll have a overseas bowler" although whether he meant we already have one signed was unclear .Still think we need one more proven seam bowler.

Would love to get Vishwa Fernando back.

Must admit I've bloody enjoyed this year. Proper feel good factor again after last season. Had some cracking trips to Sedberge, Blackpool and Taunton and done about 95% at home, all good craic and on the whole good cricket. As I keep saying we are a bloody good side. More than happy how we've ended the season and 5th I believe is a fair reflection. We need to improve one day cup which I'm sure we will. Wagner for me is a must in the winter get home signed. Overall very happy and look forward to next season and see how some of the younger players progress. Very excited about Minto, he looks a good lad. Winter well folks.

Cheers,I've enjoyed your comments. But Wagner, who will than be 40 year old, for an intensive 7 4 day games in 8 or so weeks? Not for me.

I think he will be a very good mentor for the younger players. We'll need someone who is going to be available. Be interesting to see what we get

Decent season all round in the championship although that defeat to Worcestershire at the Riverside was poor and probably cost Durham getting into the top 3. To be honest i think the 4 teams that finished above Durham where probably better sides over the season but Durham definitely the best of the rest.
In the t20 blast getting out of the group stage is an achievement giving our previous campaigns although it has to be said the North group was very weak this summer
The biggest plusses for me this season is the emergence of Hogg who although he only played 4 matches he looks a genuine choice to play championship cricket next season especially when the likes of Carse or Potts are away with England.
The player i was a little disappointed with was Parkinson i thought he would have been far more of an attacking wicket taking option in the championship although he proved to be a steady defensive bowler in all forms of the game.
Off the field the communication of information regarding the club continues to be poor. It will be interesting to see when the club offically inform us who has left the club and who has been awarded up graded contracts and rookie contracts. Its all been sorted out.

Frank Woolley, Les Ames, Deadly Derek, The Lime Tree, Alan Knott with the steak in your gloves, MCC, Fatty Key, Godfey Evans...can you hear me Godders...what were the odds on that game finishing a draw?

Bedingham has had an unreal season and Ackerman has had a very good season too.....i wonder how he viewed his first season at Durham ?
