Cattermol to Stoke....

Why? if he's not good enough for us why would we worry about that.

Well on his day he can be a very good player, so why would we sell someone to one of our rivals just before they played us? Catts would be well fired up for the match so in all likelihood would either get sent off/ injure someone/ have a stormer. I'd rather just sell him after the 29th....

If we get through tonight will he stay or go......Stoke or Wembley with the lads? Or will he not have a choice as Gus might make his mind up for him? A bit of a strange situation!
If he is to go and Stoke offer him more money on a long contract he'll go where the money is.
Fair enough if he was about to get a champions league final game or premiership winners medal, but the league cup final means nothing to most right thinking football people

I cannot believe that Mark Hughes has gone to his chairman and said - "Cattermole is the player we need - offer £5m" - it doesn't sound right to me.

Would be lunacy to sell catts when we are embroiled in a desperate relegation scrap , what he lacks in a bility he certainly makes up with battling qualities and we are going to need plenty of that if we are going to stay up.

What normally happens is that if a player is sold without asking for a transfer then they are given a sweetener by the selling club that could run into hundreds of thousands depending on what length of contract they have remaining.

If Cattermole goes then he'll do very well from the deal.

Whatever happens we cant sell him before that match or we cant allow him to play that match. Id be kind of sad to see him go, on his day he can be a leader, a great player even england levels, however those days are very very very thin. And hos downsides are close to out weighing his upsides. If we sell him we need to get a player in first, and he simply cant be allowed to play in the game against us, it has all the hallmarks of a massive fuck up if he is allowed to play.[DOUBLEPOST=1390384323][/DOUBLEPOST]
if selling catts gets us bridcutt I'm all for it
In all honest why? ive seen little of him but cattermole has played nearly all if not all his time in the top flight briddcutt aint.

it could just be another man utd attempt to disrupt our preparations.

or a stoke attempt to disrupt our preparations for the stoke game.

He wouldn't have much of a choice if we do decide to sell him... theoretically, he does, but I imagine he'd be heavily encouraged.

If we do somehow win the cup, it would be in a big way thanks to his performance against Chelsea, he rallied the side and drove us on in normal time.

Of course he has a choice & he's in a fairly strong position. He's one of the few central midfielders that would still be under contract at the end of the season & he's a much better player than any of Gardner Colback & Larsson.[DOUBLEPOST=1390385404][/DOUBLEPOST]

There's no way Stoke will offer him better wages than he's on here & winning the League Cup gives a spot in the Europa League & from next season the Europa League winners get a Champions League spot.

Seem to remember that when we first made wigan an offer for him he said that he was settled in the NW and didn't have any plans to return to the NE. That may have a bearing on any decision re' stoke assuming of course that there is any truth in this story.
